I am just starting Quicken for starting this year. (our fiscal year runs June 1 thru 5-31.

I want to start with the balance from the bank statement for 5-31. How do I do this?

Is this for the initial setup of the account? If so, just input the 5/31 statement balance when you create the account, with amounts added for any items that were created before that date, but hadn't cleared the bank by then … such as a check written on 5/31/24.

And, if items come in that you don't want, you can just delete them.

Yes, initial setup. As soon as I connect my bank account it loads the last 727 days. is there a way to ignore previous? I really don't want to go back to categorize everything. Or is there a way to do a bulk delete?

Once the transactions are in the register, you can select a range of transactions using the normal Windows range selection method of click on a transactions, scroll to the end of the range, SHIFT click and the end and the range should be highlighted, RIGHT click on a high lighted transaction and select Delete transaction(s) from the pop-up menu. Poof, the range is deleted.

Do a backup first so that if you don't like the results, you can restore the backup and not have to do the download again. One thing you will find is that you can only download a transaction into an account once since Quicken remembers what has been downloaded into each account uniquely and will not show it a second time for acceptance. The restore resets Quicken's memory.

To bulk delete, select the 1st txn to be deleted, hold down the SHIFT key and select the last … then press Delete.

BUT, be sure to leave intact any outstanding, as of 5/31, items that downloaded.
