Issues upgrading and running Quicken Mac

Hi, I recently tried starting up my Quicken application (currently using 7.6.1) and its tells me to upgrade to 7.7.1 After proceeding with the upgrade I am given a prompt the "Quicken needs to be installed in the Applications folder" and the option to install or quit. When I select Install then I am given an error "You cant save the file "Quicken (706………)" because the volume "21…………." is read only. " Any ideas on how to resolve this? I have used Quicken on this Mac with no issues until this recent upgrade attempt.

    @ajzak You could try this…

    • Make sure you know the location of your current Quicken data file.
    • Move your current Quicken.app from the Applications folder to the Trash. (Don't empty the Trash; you can pull it out later if you need to revert.)
    • Go to Quicken.com and Sign in to "My Account"
    • In the "Access your apps" box, click on Quicken for Mac and it will download the installer to your Mac's download location (typically either your Downloads folder or your Desktop).
    • Locate the Quicken.dmg installer and double-click it to open it. Follow the instructions to install Quicken.app in your Applications folder.
    • In your applications folder, now double-click on this newly-installed Quicken.app to launch Quicken.
    • It may or may not know the location of your current data file; if it does, Quicken will open normally, including updating your data file to the current version. If not, and you get the "Let's Get Started" screen, click the "Open Quicken File" button at the bottom of that screen and navigate to your current Quicken data file.

    At this point, you should be up and running. Check About Quicken to see what version the downloaded installed. If it's 7.7.0, you can update to 7.7.1 — the current release — by selecting Quicken > Check for Updates.

    Great. I'm not sure what the update installer was hung up on, but sometimes manually replacing the application file with a fresh install like this resolves the problem; I'm glad it did for you. (You'll never lose data, since the data file is separate; the worst that can happen is that it "forgets" where your data file is, and you have to open it manually one time.)

    I'm having the same issue and have done what ajzak has listed but with no luck. Was on with Quicken support for over an hour and after numerous installs and trashing of app and restarts, they told me to call Apple.

    Called Apple and they said since it was a third-party app that wasn't available in the App store (except for IPhone), that they couldn't help me.

    Have tried everything with Quicken support, but nothing worked. Quicken worked fine on this Mac until this update.

    Any suggestions?
