I'm have seen some people ask with no answers over the last couple of years. Since I have had to relink my accounts, I can not do this for my husband's and my accounts at the same bank that are not linked in the bank. I link one and it tells me to delete the other. I have deactivated them and tried linking them after rebooting, it will start the process over but with the same result. Any advice? Thank you!

    Which bank?

Which connection method? Direct Connect, Express Web Connect or Express Web Connect+? (This can be obtained from Account List, the Online Services tab of Account Details and above and to the left on the Account Register in the line directly beneath the Account Name.)

    Which type(s) of accounts?

Did this start when you changed the connection method from one to another?

Thank you for responding. I guess I figured a generic answer might be helpful! Sorry I didn't include further details. Charles Schwab. Roth and Traditional for each login. Express Web Connect +. Worked great before I reinstalled it.

Thank you! I'm pretty much at the give up point, I've now spent way to much time over the past 3 days troubleshooting quicken! I appreciate any help or thoughts you may have.

It has been a while since setting up a Schwab account but I recall that Schwab has a validation procedure that they follow that ties the account(s) to the computer. Can I assume your husband has his user name and password for his account(s) and you have a different user name and password for yours? I assume you want both accounts accessed from just 1 Quicken Data File?

You might contact Schwab Tech Support and explain your situation to them. They may need to do something on their end to allow access for you.

Windows 11 (2 separate computers)..... Quicken Premier.. HAVE USED QUICKEN CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1985.

Thank you! I will look into that if we can't get this to work some other way. I had no issues having both logins downloading just fine into Quicken just a few days ago, so this baffles me.

I don't understand why just a few days ago you did not have this issue but now you do. Something has changed.

But I do agree that you might want to ask Schwab to somehow link all the accounts so you can use one login to download both your and your husband's accounts. My wife and I both have accounts at Fidelity and we were able to do that after we completed Power of Attorney forms and we were then granted full authority over each other's accounts which also allows us to see and download all the accounts using either her login or mine. The added benefit of doing this is that if anything were to happen to incapacitate either of us, then the other person could jump right in to manage the incapacitated person's accounts. Otherwise, it could be quite a problematic situation.

Some people might be more comfortable with granting each other view-only authority but it is my understanding that would also allow downloading of both people's accounts using just one login.

I'm guessing that Schwab can set up something similar for the 2 of you. And I think it would probably be a good idea to do something like this even if you are able start downloading using to different logins, again.

Thank you for the response! It is interesting. We actually both also have logins at Fidelity, and those still work just fine. The only thing that changed is quicken crashed a few days ago when I was adding a completely separate new account and I ended up re-installing. This resulted in my needing to re-establish login access for a few accounts. Fidelity did not need to be re-established, Schwab did. I've been using quicken for well over 10 years, and we've had a couple of logins for various banks over the years. I've never had an issue until now.

I should clarify that I have no problem setting up and downloading from Fidelity into a single data file with 3 different logins. I only mentioned that Fidelity had linked my wife's and my accounts together to let you know that by doing that I am now able to download all of our accounts with a single login instead of with two. And that perhaps if Schwab would do the same for you and your husband you might be able to download with a single login, too. If so that would eliminate the issue you are now experiencing with trying to use 2 logins.

BTW, this multiple login issue only popped up with some financial institutions with the introduction of the EWC+ connection method.

The only thing that I know has sometimes resolved this multiple login issue is to deactivate all of the Schwab accounts (both yours and your husbands) and then try to set up your accounts, again, followed by trying to set up his accounts (or the reverse of that). It does not always work but it sometimes does, especially with financial institutions that used to allow multiple logins but then stopped for one reason or the other.

Thank you for your response! I did deactivate and re-set up the accounts, the first time with mine and the second time with his, and actually a third time with mine. It became a circular no fun - once one is set up and I try to re-set up the 2nd, it is successful but tells me to delete the other one which had previously been set up. I might try it all again when I have time to mess with it next week. I greatly appreciate your help and the info that the issue began with EWC+, that is also useful knowledge! I truly appreciate your responding and trying to help me sort it out! I haven't had a chance to contact Schwab about it yet either, hopefully I have time to do that next week as well.

Thank you again! I will report back if I have success with something. Maybe it will help someone else in the future.
