The cleared flag should not be copied when entering a transaction (Q Mac)
Enter a new transaction manually that is a close duplicate of a transaction that has been cleared. Quicken Mac 7.7.1 copies all the fields so unless the user is careful they might well miss that the transaction has not been cleared which then will make reconciling a problem.
This happens with the Quicken Mac shipping 7.7.1 version.

@mrooney Double check to see if you have a Quickfill rule for that transaction, and if so check to see if the "Mark as cleared" option is selected in that rule. Quicken by default should not be marking transactions as cleared as soon as they're manually entered, I don't recall ever seeing it do that.

@Jon,
I have no Quickfill rules set at all. I see it all the time as I do a lot of manual entries because I need to get details into them that are not in any of the online sources for the transactions. I bet I could show you it happening if we did an online session.

Oh, I thought you were a Quicken employee or something else that got you the power to edit a user's posts. It is hard to say who is what with the way the UI is set up.

If someone has "Quicken" as part of their user name, they work for Quicken.

@mrooney I'll just echo what @Jon has said. I've experienced a few manually-entered transactions showing the Cleared checkbox, and I didn't understand why, but I dug into the rules and found I did indeed have a QuickFill Rule for that particular Payee, with the "Marked as Cleared" checkbox checked. I don't remember creating such a rule, but there it was. I unchecked the box in the rule or deleted the rule (I forget which), and I've never seen it again.
I know you said you have no QuickFill rules, so forgive me for asking if you have actually looked at Window > Payees & Rules, clicked on the QuickFill Rules tab, and looked to see if a rule might have been created inadvertently.
