How do I respond to comments left by others on this forum?

I posted my first discussion a few days ago and received multiple comments. I'd like to respond to each of them, but I don't see a button that allows me to do that. It seems I can only post another comment on the discussion, below those left by others.

    Yes, that's the way this forum software works, it doesn't allow for threaded discussions like that. You can use the Quote button below each post to paste it into your reply to make it clear which post you're replying to.

    OR you can use @cblume (note the @ symbol) to direct your reply.
