Michigan Education Credit Union - only showing feature to add offline account
Michigan Education Credit Union(MECU) made a change as of July 1st where they asked to deactivate each MECU account in Quicken and then go to one of the accounts and use Set Up Now to set it up again. I believe they changed to Direct Connection. I followed the instructions to deactivate the accounts and remove the Financial Institution
and Account Number
information. The instructions then said to go to one account and select Set Up Now. What I believe is suppose to happen next is to prompt me for my userid and password for the Credit Union and then show me my available accounts at MECU which then I would associate them to my Quicken accounts which I have done this before for other bank accounts.. What it is doing instead is after I select Michigan Education Credit Account it asks me to setup an Offline Account and never shows me the available accounts.

Hello @pmarker,
I am seeing the same thing on my end.
In order for a financial institution to support downloads to Quicken and to be added to our bank list, the request to be added would need to be made and submitted by the financial institution to our service providers. If you want Quicken to be supported, you will need to contact your financial institution directly and tell them you'd like to download your accounts into Quicken.
I hope this clears things up!

According to the list of supported financial institutions,
- 70737 70737 70737 Michigan Educational CU https://www.michedcu.org/ NA https://digital.michedcu.org/registration ACTIVE BANKING&WEB-CONNECT NOT_QBP NA
Michedcu does not support downloading from within Quicken (One Step Update or "Update Now") at all. Their settings only allow download of QFX files from their website for each account.
If that is not sufficient, contact the bank's management and request better service.

But according to @pmarker and per MECUs website (https://www.michedcu.org/quicken) there is supposed to be both EWC and DC connections available with their new Digital Banking website. And the website article clearly indicates they have been working with Intuit to make the necessary changes. However, the FIDIR list has not been updated to show that so it appears something is broken.
It is important to note that MECUs article states that these connections would not be available until 5 business days after the new Digital Banking goes live as it would take Intuit that long to get the updates made for Quicken….and to please be "patient" with Intuit.
Has it been 5 business days, yet? If it has, then @pmarker should contact MECU to find out if some delay(s) might have been encountered. If the front line Customer Service person cannot give a definitive answer (a common occurrence), ask to talk with someone in their tech support who works with downloading or who works with Quicken. Tech support might need to contact Intuit to inquire as to what is causing the delay and when it will be resolved.

Is this a quicken issue or a Michigan Education Credit Union. I called tech support at the credit Union and they said they were waiting on Quicken.

Waiting on Quicken for what? The FIDIR listing clearly shows that currently the only download method MECU supports is Web Connect (WC) which is manually downloading and importing the transactions in the QFX file format….and they support downloading only for Banking accounts (checking, savings), not for credit cards nor loans:

If the FIDIR listing is not correct, MECU needs to work with Intuit, not Quicken. Quicken cannot update the FIDIR listing. Only Intuit can do that and they can only do that if MECU's contract with Intuit requires it. So, no, this is not a Quicken issue. It is an Intuit and/or MECU issue and only they can fix it.
Until the FIDIR listing is updated (by Intuit in agreement with MECU) to include DC and EWC download methods, the only option for downloading/importing is WC. Have you tried using that method? It's not ideal but it does give you an option to use until Intuit and MECU get this issue addressed and closed.

@pmarker, I am having the same issue. Very frustrating as I have used this connection for at least 15 years. My first call to MECU was not helpful at all, I am waiting for a call back.
Did you happen to call MECU? If so, what was the outcome of that?0 -
I just talked to a lady at MECU and they are working with Intuit to get the EWC connection working.

There is a delay on the Intuit side to get EWC stood up on the new platform. This was expected to be completed by July 1st, it obviously wasn't.

@pmarker, MECU returned my call - they are working with Quicken to resolve the issue - they have been trying to do this for 2-3 weeks :(
There is a banner on the MICHEDCU website before you log in - they shared that once resolved they will remove the banner - let's hope this is resolved quickly.0 -
Good news. The issue impacting Intuit was resolved today. I was able to download my transaction with EWC today.

Yes, the FIDIR listing has now been updated to include EWC (or EWC+) downloads…see bold italics. In my previous post above this listing did not include this. So, yes, people should be able to set up their download connection with EWC/EWC+ now.:
