Is there a way to setup a credit card account where it only downloads transactions after the current period closes?

    Hi @Dom1,

While most folks do want their accounts downloaded on a regular basis (e.g. daily, or weekly, etc.) You may not know that you don't have to download transactions for ALL of your "connected" accounts every time you download. Instead, you can control which accounts get downloaded simply by deselecting the little check box to the left of the financial institution's name in the "One Step Update Settings" screen anytime you don't want it updated..

Let me know if you have any followups.

Quicken is designed to download and import all transactions during OSU or Update Now from the date of the last download to the current date. It pays absolutely no attention to the statement periods of the financial institutions. So, there is no way to set up Quicken to only download transactions for only the latest statement period.

As mentioned by @Frankx you can optionally download from each financial institution individually. You can do that on the day after the statement closing date but Quicken won't know what that date is so you would need to know which download date would be appropriate to download each account. But do note that when doing OSU or Update Now (which is basically doing OSU but for just one) Quicken will download all accounts from that specific financial institution, not just one account. So, if you have more than account with the financial institution and they have different statement closing dates, then doing it this way will not be meeting what you want to see.

The only way I know of to download and import for a specific time period and only for 1 account is to use the Web Connect (WC) connection method. WC is where you log into your online account, select the date range to be downloaded or the statement to be downloaded (yes, some financial institutions do use this method to download transactions on a statement-by-statement basis) in QFX (or "Quicken" or "Web Connect") format file and then import that file into Quicken. So it is more time consuming than using OSU or Update Now. But not all financial institutions support WC. You can log into your financial institutions to see if they permit downloads in this QFX format.

Thanks, yep, aware of that. At some point I know I would forget to check/uncheck.

Thanks for all the info. If I use the credit card account feature I'll just leave as is and live with the credit card account updating anytime I run OSU.
