Age Old Issue - Installing 2016 on New Computer
Long time user - with 2013 Starter on very old (dying computer) Windows 10
I have the disk for 2016 Quicken that I installed on Windows 11
It loads but stops at signin screen - which of course I can't do
I downloaded a patch (QW27.1.57.26MPatch)- but when I try to run it - it says Quicken is not on this computer - yet it is
I went to my working file 2013 and copied the whole config folder - but in the 2016 version I don't clearly see where to put it.
I've been trying to do this for 2 years and would gladly pay someone if it were not for sharing financial information. I only use it for balancing 3 checkbooks.
Can anyone help this old lady? Thank You -If you can please explain like I was a 5 year old ;)

I wouldn't bother trying to install a newer version. Just install 2013 on the new computer and copy your data file ending in .QDF to the new computer. You can download 2013 Deluxe directly from Quicken for free using this how to convert article. It’s under Converting from Quicken 2004-2009. Click on the blue words Quicken 2013 for Windows in step 3. It should run on Windows 11. I'm using 2013 on Windows 10.

Or if you want to install 2016 you need the 2016 patch not the current patch. You can get 2016 patches here but you still might not be able to install or run 2016

QW27.1.57.26MPatch is a patch for subscription (2018+) Quicken, it will not update your QW2016.
I suggest that you go with @volvogirl 's suggestion of sticking with QW2013, unless you want something that will do online banking downloads, it is the best version to use.
-splasher using Q continuously since 1996
- Subscription Quicken - Win11 and QW2013 - Win11

I didn't think that Q2013 could read a Q2016 data file. Am I missing something?

Which worked? Did you get 2013 installed? Or put on the 2016 patch?
