Tax Planner R58.9 BUG: settings change after upgrade
[updated] I upgraded today to R58.9 and found that many of my Tax Planner settings had changed. I checked on a system running R58.8 with a data file from a few days ago and it does not have this problem.
I observed a similar problem and corrected the settings in March when I was running R54.16.
These are the setting changes I observed:
- Estimated tax payments > Estimated taxes paid to date changed from Scheduled bills and deposits to No projected amount
- Withholding > Other withholding changed from Scheduled bills and Deposits to Estimate based on YTD average
- Other Income > Taxable IRA/Pension distributions changed from Scheduled bills and deposits to No projected amount
- Interest and Dividend income > Dividends changed from Scheduled bills and deposits to Estimate based on YTD average
Needless to say, these changes had a major impact on the projected taxes due. The Tax Planner is potentially very useful, but its usefulness is greatly reduced if you have to check and correct all the settings each time there is a software update.
If others experience this issue, please record the details and post here.

Hey Jim, just an FYI: I updated to r58.9 a couple of days ago and I don't see an changes in any of the tax planner settings. I know you're an experienced user, but in the unlikely case that you didn't try a file restore, perhaps give it a shot?

I updated from R57.26 to R58.9 and there are no changes in the tax planner for me.
Maybe it's when upgrading from R58.8.
