Two days ago I had a good file. Now if I open the good file it starts sync with the cloud and afterward all my closed and hidden accounts appear. I first noticed this when I tried to do an update. But, even without an update on closing it syncs with the cloud and corrupts the file. Sync is turned off, I have no data files on the web.

What is going on. Have you finally broken quicken beyond repair?

Go to Edit > Preferences > Mobile & Web. If Sync is on, turn it off by moving the slider to the left.

Sync should only be enabled if you are using the companion mobile apps or Quicken on the Web.

That is my point Sync is off. I have check it both on Mobile & Web and by using the Menu Item "Mobile & Web' > Go to Mobile and Web.

It is off, no accounts listed, and it says "Your account will NOT be accessible on Quicken Mobile & Web apps.

The real problem though is that I can no longer remove my closed accounts and ones I do not displayed from my investment screen.

OK more weird behavior. I open Quicken, instead of opening to my first page as "Home" it opens to Dashboard. I go to the investment screen and the accounts have disappeared. I then run update on investment, it does not attempt to Sync any more and I do not have the hidden accounts displayed.

Not sure what happened, but I am pretty convinced it was not my file or my computer. When you update, it verifies your subscription, otherwise you get the random, irritating screen, ask you to re-enter your password. If I had to bet money, I would look to that communication with Quicken as the source of my problem.

It sounds like several of your settings have changed.

The opening screen is set by going to Edit > Preferences > Startup.

What investment screen are you going to? When you say the investing accounts have disappeared, is that all your accounts or just the ones that should be hidden?

    Investing>Portfolio.

I have not touched by setting or startup. The rouge behavior, which I can explain. is the synchronization with the web app, which I have never used. The investment accounts that were hidden and closed are the ones that disappeared. The behavior that is linked, which I can't explain, is when update also tried to sync to a non-existent web account. When it did that the hidden accounts appeared. When is stopped doing that, roughly 24 hours later, the screens were normal setting. Additionally, I had websync turned off, so why was it attempting to Sync? I think this was on Quicken's side of the interaface.
