delete unmatched transaction symbol
Hi, I have some transactions that I entered manually that I don't expect the bank to match .Quicken now flags the transaction with a red pencil icon in the light side of the transaction(in the register.) I would like to remove these icons and prevent any more in the future. There are now blue dots appearing in the registers also. I would like to stop them also.
Thanks

If you expand that column, you will find that besides the icon there is text, which will give you more details on what these icons mean.
You can hide that column (it is called Status), but I recommend you don't it is trying to communicate important information.
Red pencil → manually entered (including reminder entered) transaction
Blue dot/New → Newly downloaded transaction, should be checked that everything is corrected and marked reviewed (which can be done by clicking on that status icon)
Blue pencil/New Match → Downloaded transaction was matched with an existing transaction (previous red pencil transaction). And again, should be reviewed to make sure it is correct.
I you have the pending transactions option on this will show as a black hourglass icon, and the word Pending.

Hi Chris, My registers go back to 1990. Most entries from back then are now flagged. Before Intuit you had to go to the banks website and copy transactions manually into quicken. Something in Quicken changed to make it look at these old tractions and start flagging them.I just want to be able to delete the flag/icon and leave the transactions alone.

For the "red pencil" they are marked that way because the "CLR" column is empty(uncleared). If this problem just started something changed this status. I have no idea what would do that, well if you are using Sync to Mobile/Web maybe it messed them up. Don't really know.
Note also the Status icons blue dot/blue pencil are shown when you have your transactions downloading directly into the register instead of going through the Downloaded Transactions tab. If this setting was recently changed that might be why you are seeing that:

Thanks for the info. I just need to know how to delete the red pencil . Awhile back quicken updated my registers and added the red pencil even on transactions that were adden manually before Intuit had download services. I've attached back 25 years ago that had no transaction matching.

Probably the quickest way and most accurate would be to reconcile your account. The other way would be just to mark the transactions either cleared or reconcile.
Example of the three states:
Notice that both c and R transactions don't have the Uncleared/red pencil.
If the transactions are continuous, you can select the first one and then go to the last one hold down the shift key and right click on it. This will select all the transactions and bring up the context menu where you can select "Reconcile Status" → "Cleared" or "Reconciled".
If the transactions are continuous, you can toggle the selection of a given transactions by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on that transaction.
If you feel that your register is properly reconciled, you should select Reconciled. That way the Uncleared status will go away, and the new transactions will not affect the current reconcile status. If you select Cleared these transactions will be included in your next reconcile.
