Can't connect to CITI Cards with a One Step Update
Answers
-
Hello @Ron S,
To clarify, the announcement said that one specific connection option was turned back on.
The specific connection option the update is referring to is this one:
If you have a Costco Citi credit card, you should be able to download using that one specific connection option.
Thank you!

Hi Kristina, Thanks. That worked for me. 😁👍

Selecting the Costco Anywhere visa card as the institution from the Add Account menu worked for me. After going through the authoriztaion process, I was able to connect and download transactions for my Costco Card and two other cards/accounts at Citi (airline cards). However, when I run the one-step update it doesn't show the three accounts being updated individually in the update popup window. It only shows the Costco account there even though in the account list on the left side of the main window shows all three accounts being updated. So it is functional for now but still not quite right.

I'm now getting this error message when attempting to set up online updates for the Costco Visa card from Citi.
400 Bad RequestRequest Header Or Cookie Too Large

When I added the Citi Costco card, it looks like it will ad the account but then I get "Sign in to Citibank bank failed. Try again. Sorry, the sign in failed due to time out or a connection error. " Pretty frustrating….

I am seeing a problem connecting my Citi card to Quicken as others described above. I tried to re-set my connection to my Citi card and saw:
but then Quicken says:
So do I have to create a new account in Quicken for my Citi card to enable download access and then move all the transaction from my existing account to the new one?

I am still getting the sign on rejection. Citi authorizes quicken, but when I get redirected to quicken, I am presented with a timeout message. I have tried several times today, Monday 9/30. Please help me quicken!

Unfortunately, my connection to Citi is still broken. I have 4 cards which are to be downloaded. Of the four, only one can be completed. When I check the information in the Quicken Account List>Card Name>Edit Online Services, the card that connects is using a "Direct Connect" can complete the download operation. The other three cards use an Express Web Connection.

Citi Cards connection issue still exists for me as well. Receive an email from Citi that connection is authorized but the Quicken sign in window says the connection has failed.

Still failing
Please try again later.

I have both a Costco and a non Costco Citi account and both still have the same problem as everyone else has described using Direct Connect, even after the recent updated comments posted at:
With both accounts, I log into the Citi login fine, authorize, and everything appears to work fine, but then when the authorization process comes back to Quicken, the error states "Sign in to Citi Cards bank failed. Try again.".
I'm not sure if this helps troubleshoot what is going on, but I saw earlier reference that the link
referenced for authorizing this access. So I tried this link and was able to login fine with both of my Citi accounts independently, but noticed my Costco card didn't have a "registered date time"(2019) and "last access time"(09/27/2024) listed, unlike my non Costo Citi card. Does this make sense? All of my Citi connection problems started on 09/27/24. Even so, even my non Costco Citi card isn't able to make the Direct Connect connection to Quicken. Within Quicken, both accounts state "Citi Cards" as the "Financial institution" under the "General" tab.0 -
Still unable to reconnect to Costco Visa today!

I noticed that earlier in this thread Kristina stated that "Citi Cards" was the only Quicken option for Direct Connect back on August 19th(see below for exact quote). However, yesterday she indicated above that the "Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi" option was now working within Quicken. So, does anyone that was previously using the Quicken "Citi Cards" option need to potentially move to some other different Citi option now or am I missing something???? It seems like Quicken/Citi changed something here and you are not giving your customers a clear explanation of what is going on, especially since this has been broken for at least 5 days for everyone using Citi and maybe even longer for others (this thread goes back to August)?

Thank you for the follow-up @Quixote,You mentioned you had to reauthorize your Citi account. It's possible going through that process changed the connection method. If you prefer being connected via Direct Connect, then backup your Quicken file, deactivate the account, then reconnect by going to Tools>Add Account, search for and choose Citi Cards (since it's the only connection option with Citi that allows Direct Connect), click Advanced Options, click Next, Select Direct Connect, then follow the prompts. Please note that for Direct Connect, you typically need to authorize the connection through the financial institution website. For Citi, that is https://citi.com/datamanagement.

I still can't connect despite the announcement yesterday that "Customers trying to connect … may continue to experience errors, although we believe that they will be resolved quickly". How many days is quickly? This problem started September 26.

Still receiving the following error message when attempting to update:
400 Bad Request
Request Header Or Cookie Too Large

This is terrible. I did the "add account" with CITI COSTCO ANYWHERE to try and fix it and now I have an account that has way too many debts on it and it out of synch with the CITI account. DO not try to fix it with the ADD ACCOUNT work around. It corrupted my account.

On September 29, Quicken Kristina indicated there was a solution to download for the Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi. It worked once for me. When I tried it a second time, I received the same error as TRex Dawson:
400 Bad Request
Request Header Or Cookie Too Large

Can't connect. Tried 6 times yesterday, 3 today. Pretty pitiful, Quicken.

Yup & its still now working to upgrade connection to Express Web Connect -
Even though update (https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7956141/new-9-26-24-citi-card-citi-bank-all-associated-citi-fis-downloading-incorrect-transactions#latest) says it should work.
Even though the Citi Card login page says:
Your accounts have been authorized successfully! You will now be redirected back to Quicken. If you are not redirected in a few seconds, you can close this window and return to Quicken

After following the instructions from Kristina (regarding the selection of the financial institution) my Costco Citi Visa download works correctly. When establishing the online connection you have to enter costco as the financial institution, then select Costco Anywhere Visa Card by CITI. I believe this is the only (CITI) card that is working at this time.

Is this problem ever going to be fixed? I have not been able to download transactions for my two CITI credit cards since 9/25. The process to establish account access seems to work, and Citi issues an email saying the access setup has been completed, but then Quicken issues a message window that says the sign-in failed and it doesn't complete the download setup.

Ron, if you go into your Accounts, select your Costco Citi account, and look at the "General" tab, what value do you have for the "Financial Institution"? Is it "Costco Anywhere Visa Card by CITI" or "Citi Cards"? I believe it used to be "Citi Cards". I'm looking for a response from Quicken - does this now need to change to "Costco Anywhere Visa Card by CITI" due to some backend changes made by Quicken and/or Citi since 9/26 or 9/27?

This Citi issue has been going on for a week now… So glad I'm paying for this Service

This worked for me. Went into edit account details and cleared the Financial Institution. Ran update. Given a choice of institutions searched for Citi Smart Mastercard. Went through the login/authorize sequence and it worked! Download worked!

Ron, thank you! This resolved it for me too.

JQuick1 It shows as COSTCO CITI VISA See below:

Just to confirm the information above, what finally worked for me was:
- Clear the account number and finanical institution fields
- Connect to the very specific credit card offering associated with Citi Bank (in my case the Citi Divident Platinum Card)
Just choosing the proffered Citi Cards or CitiBank institution during the Online Setup process always succeeded on the Citi side, but failed on the Quicken side.

I'm having the same problems as everyone else is experiencing here. I have made sure Quicken is an authorized application on my Citibank app.
Have tried 5-6 times this morning (10/2/24) to no avail, Qqicken won't link to my CITI CC accounts.

As weird as it may sound … connecting my CostCo VISA card to "Citi Cards" or "Citibank" has continued to fail for me for the last few weeks … and then I read the comments in this discussion.
After blanking out the Financial Institution Name and Account number in Edit Account Details I tried "Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi" and, believe it or else 😊, it worked!
I sure wish someone would tell us poor Quicken users the rhyme and reason, why some Citi connections work while others persistently fail. What's going on here???
