Quicken error this morning (8/19) downloading transactions, set them all to "Uncategorized"

Hello. I'm using Quicken Classic Deluxe 7.8.1. Usually have no issue when I download transactions to all my accounts. But this morning I noticed the download was taking much longer than usual (not totally unexpected since I hadn't downloaded in over a month).

Finally Quicken threw up some error windows saying there were problems connecting to the Quicken Download Server (or something to that effect, it wasn't a problem to any particular account). After that I saw that it had download over 100 transactions since last time I downloaded transaction (over a month back) and every one of the newly downloaded transaction had the category set to "Uncategorized". I can fix these all manually but that's going to take a while. Searching here and online I found a way to re-assign categories automatically on the Windows version, but I don't see how to do that on the Mac version.

Any help much appreciated!!

Thanks,

-Jason

My guess (only that) is that because it didn't reach the end of the download process for whatever reason, the transactions weren't run through Quicken's server-based auto-categorization process — thus all the transactions came in as uncategorized. I believe all the transactions are downloaded fist, and then they are fed through Quicken's tool to do automatic renaming (e.g. change "Home Depot #1234 123 Main St Anytown" to "Home Depot") and automatic categorization.

If you have a number of transactions which should all have the same category, you can Command-click to highlight each one, then go to Transactions > Edit Transaction, select the category, and click OK to apply the category to all the selected transactions at once.

Another time-saver can be going to Home > Dashboard and looking at the Uncategorized Transactions card. Click each transaction, select the category and move to the next. It's a little faster than doing it in a register where you have to open each transaction, select the category, and save.
