Quicken doesn't always ask to associate payment with existing deposit transaction

If I'm recording a new customer payment, sometimes Quicken will ask me if I want to associate the payment with an existing deposit in my checking account, and sometimes it doesn't. Is there a reason why it does this sometimes and not others? It's a handy feature but it's frustrating that it's not working consistently.

Thanks!
Mike

The amount of the recorded payment, in the account, and the amount of the txn you're recording must be exact … and the date of each must be within a day or 2. Otherwise, Q won't know to match them.

Ahh.. the date was it. I had the exact amount, but I wasn't paying attention to the date. Thank you very much for that!!
