I have two Vanguard 529 accounts for each of our kids. Each kid has holdings in two portfolios: A target enrollment date fund, plus a component in their growth portfolio. The balance of target date fund balances import correctly for both kids. The growth portfolio only imports for one kids but not the other kid. In other words, If I delete Kid #1's account, Kid #2's balance comes in correctly. If I delete Kid #2's account, then I get the correct total balance for kid #1. If I try to import both kids' accounts, one of the kid's balance is always missing the sum of the growth portfolio. The holdings for each of the two kid accounts show $10,800 in cash even though both accounts have balances that are several multiples of this amount. During the initial import screen, Quicken will show the correct balances for both kids, but upon completion of the import shows the incorrect balances described previously.

How do I create a proper budget that includes monthly transfers to investment accounts since Quicken Mac doesn't report any specific transaction in investment accounts? I can see outging transfers from my checking account register, but that is it.

Over the past week I've improved my understanding of the program to properly account for our income and expenses at a level of detail which is exactly what I was looking for in the program. I have read Mac Quicken being behind the curve with investment tracking, and yet I am still shocked as to how limited the investment tracking & reporting is in this program. Is there a development roadmap / timeline as to when these limitations may be addressed? The capability gap feels somewhat absurd given the level of detail available in tracking transactions from bank and credit card accounts.

What kind of custom reporting tricks have you employed to get the most out the mac version? For example, track deposits to various investment accounts

about these issues in the past, but I am just shocked how crippleThe Mac version of Quicken appears to have a very limited capabilities the capability to handle investment transaction on Mac is significant.

For the first issue, I don't have an answer for you, but I'm wondering if your investment accounts in Quicken are set for Simple or Detailed Tracking? Detailed tracking is desirable for investment accounts, so you can see exactly what is or isn't present, and make corrections by adding a transaction manually if needed.

Transfers from one account to another aren't either income or expenses, which is why they don't show up by default in a Quicken Mac budget. But you can make your budget include transfers if you wish to see them as income or expenses for cash flow purposes. Go to Edit Budget > Select Categories, then type "Transfer" in the search box (or scroll down the categories list to Transfer). Check the box for Transfers Out > "TO [investment account name]", then click OK and Save. Now your budget will show the transfers to your selected investment accounts.

It would help if you added more information about what you'd expect/want tot see and can't. I don't find Quicken Mac is "crippled" or has "very limited capabilities to handle investment transactions". Your comments here again make me wonder if this comes back to my first question above: are you set for Detailed Tracking in your investment accounts? If you are, you can do extensive tracking of investments over any time range or any point in time. I can see all my purchases and sales, dividends and capital gains (paid in cash or reinvested), and chart the path of a security holding or an account or all accounts over time. I can configure the Portfolio view for what I want to see, and I can print reports from the Portfolio. (The key feature that's missing here is the ability to save multiple custom reports for re-use, rather than needing to tweak the Portfolio settings each time to generate the report you want — an annoyance, to be sure, but one which isn't too hard to work around until the developers build save-able custom reports.) Please give examples of what investment tracking/reporting you're looking for.
