The option "Make all two line registers look like this" seems to not work
Runnning Quicken Classic Premier, Version R58.9, Buiild 27.1.58.9.
Navigate from the little gear icon on the upper right side of any opened two line account (for example, a basic checking account), click on "Register columns ...", toggle Off the "Amount" item, click on the little gear icon on the bottom left of the flyout pane that contains the various register columns names, click on the "Make all 2-line Checking registers look like this". Quicken responds with a pop-up that states "xx other registers updated" (where the "xx" is a decimal integer). Then click on the OK button.
One would expect that all of the other checking account 2-line registers would now show the same column set. However, that is not the case. These other registers appear totally unchanged.
How can one get the desired column set to be applied globally? I have had to go into each register and choose the desired set of columns. This is rather annoying. Feels like a bug to me.

Hmm… I just tried this exercise in my file, selecting a "Cash" Account. I first added the "Amount" column and told Quicken to make all other similar (1 other) Accounts use the same setup, and it worked. Then I went in the opposite direction, removing the Amount column, told Quicken to make other similar Accounts use the same setup, and that worked too. This is using R57.16 Build 27.1.57.16.
It could be that your later version somehow damaged this bit of programming, but I'd expect that you'd have to restore a previous version to make that clear. Is this "new behavior" in your experience, or is this the first time you've used this feature?

It works for me in QWin R58.9. Try restarting QWin. If it still doesn't work, a Validate & Repair might be worth a try.
Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro.

This is "new and improved" behavior. Just as an FYI, I've been a
Quicken user for decades. Yesterday, Quicken managed to break itself
after an update. So, I completely uninstalled it and started fresh.
That's when the undesirable behavior appeared.I did a Validate and Repair which claimed to have found no problems.
The %APPDATA%\Quicken\Log\DATA_LOG.TXT file literally contains the two
lines:Validating your data.
No errors. After terminating Quicken and then re-launching it, and then going
through the same path to choose register columns, the proper behavior
returned.I discovered that the incorrect behavior happens after converting an
older QDF file (from the 2013 version of Quicken). However, after
performing the Validate and Repair against the resultant converted QDF
file (and Quicken always states no problems were found), shutting down
Quicken and restarting it, the proper behavior returns.Still seems like a bug to me. There is a clearly a work-around, but it
is less than confidence inspiring.0 -
I noticed the same thing - I figured it only works on similar account types (i.e. personal vs business) and doesn't set everything globally (as you'd expect). So yeah, I don't know what's up, and my account is brand new.
