New Problem: Duplicate transactions

Pat Sills

A new problem has occurred that I have never experienced before in 20 years using Quicken. I go into the transaction ledger of an account, e.g. a checking account. I edit a specific previously entered transaction and hit return to save and commit the edit. Now Quicken shows the edited transaction twice next to each other. Hmm, how did that happen, so I delete one of the transactions, and both are deleted! Very frustrating. Is this familiar to anybody else?

    Hello @Pat Sills,

What you describe may be a known issue (CTP-10738). Do you have the sort order in your register set so that the blank line (for new transactions) is at the top or at the bottom? When your transaction appears to duplicate after you edited it, instead of deleting it, try changing the sort order (for example, click on word "Date" at the top of the Date column to reverse the order, then click on it again to set it back the way you prefer). Does that cause the duplicate transaction to vanish?

I look forward to your reply!

    Kristina,

Thx for the prompt reply. My transactions are always sorted by date with the most recent date (and blank line for new entry) at the bottom. I went in and tried to reproduce the problem but could not. It will happen again for sure and when it does I'll change the sort order and see what happens.

    Kristina,

The duplicate just happened again. I followed your instructions, changed the sort order and then changed it back. Duplicate disappeared. Thanks. It's a serious bug, but now I have an easy work-around until it's fixed.

    Thank you for your reply,

Thanks for confirming. I'm glad that there's a simple work-around available while waiting for the issue to be fixed.
