I have a Mac licence. Do I have the right to use Q Win?

Can I change my licence from Mac to Q for Windows where the investment features are better? Is it easy to convert the data?

Yes, your subscription allows you to download and install QWin on your Windows computer or on a VM (such as Parallels) running in Mac.

To move your QMac data to QWin: See this Support Article….Converting Your Data (Quicken for Mac) | Quicken. Scroll down the page until you see the section that is titled Convert from Quicken for Mac to Quicken for Windows.

Thanks for the prompt response. Do you know if Qwin would run on the Mac just by installing Parallel? Or would I need to also get a Windows licence from MSFT too?

Parallels requires a licensed copy of Windows; make sure you get the appropriate one for your CPU (ARM if you have an Apple Silicon Mac, otherwise Intel). If you want to run QWin without Windows you’ll need something like Wine or Crossover but those are more likely to have compatibility issues since they are emulating Windows.

It looks like the Parallels and Windows 11 costs would total up to about $250 (home edition Win 11), including tax.

Walmart has lower end Win 11 laptops with 14"-15" screens starting at about that same price point. A better spec used or refurbed Win 11 laptop can be bought for about the same price or even less than that. No Parallels needed and Win 11 already fully installed….just install QWin and go. Win 11 also comes with a preinstalled firewall and Defender anti-malware software so you would be set on that, as well.

Just something else to think about. If you do decided to go with a low-end Win 11 laptop, be sure to compare the system specs to QWin's min system requirements before buying it: https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-system-requirements/. . You shouldn't run into many system compatibility issues but it's always a good idea to check first before making that kind of investment.

thank you Boatmaniac. I had come to that conclusion myself after learning that Parallels wants $99 per year forever for their better version.
