You can't reply to another person's comment, the forum software in use here doesn't allow for that kind of threaded discussion. You can copy portions of a post & format them as a quote to indicate what you're replying to, and you can include a user's name by preceding it with an "@" symbol; I've done both above.

What other "tips and tricks" are you looking for?

You can't reply to another person's comment,

Hi, @Jon, I'm replying to your comment.

The official way to reply is to hit the Quote button in the action row (between Flag and Promote). That will pop a link to the post you are replying to in your comment as you see above.

I prefer the way that Jon and Rocket have described though since you only quote the contextually relevant portion.

OK yes, but all you really did was make a new post that quotes part of mine. There’s nothing in your post that directly links back to mine, and there’s nothing in my post that indicates that it has been replied to or that I could click on to take me to your “reply”. And even if you quote the entire post as @RickO did that’s still just a one way link. If I want to find the replies to a post I made all I can do is scan through the posts that follow mine and look for something that appears to be referencing it. That’s what I meant when I said you can’t reply to another persons post - this forum software has no concept of a “reply” as such.

    Hello All,

When you use the Community's built in quote tool, clicking on the date or time next to the person's name in the quoted post will take you directly to that post. For example, if you click the 5:01 am in the post quoted below, it should take you directly to that post.

    I hope this helps!
