Importing manually created credit card transactions

While away from the PC with Quicken, I want to record credit card transactions when traveling and the import them into Quicken Classic when I return. Then, when I download transactions from Chase or Citi, I can accept all the transactions that agree with the ones I've imported. Is there a specific public format (XLSX, CSV, TXT) that I can use?

Quicken for Windows can import a .QIF file which is just a specially formatted text file. Here is an example shown in the Notepad editor:

    !Account
    NQUICKEN-ACCOUNT-NAME-EXACTLY
    TBank
    ^
    !Type:Bank
    D09/30/2024
    U26.60
    T26.60
    N.
    C*
    PInterest Paid
    LInterest Inc
    ^

Now, one way to create them is to use ImportQIF (by QuicknPerlWiz, it is free) to convert a .CSV file to .QIF.

The .CSV file that was used to generate the above sample by ImportQIF looked like this:

    Transaction Date,Transaction Type,Debit,Credit,Balance
    09/30/2024,Credit,0,26.60,6517.76

There is a header line and then lines of data, comma separated. ImportQIF reformats it and you, via , ImportQIF supply the Quicken Account name.

All questions on how to use it should be asked on the ImportQIF website, not here, but QPW is very responsive and helpful and it is not hard to setup and use. I use it personally for those financial institutions that do not support Direct Connect downloading into Quicken. It would require a different file for each Quicken account, but they could all be setup the same with the same header and fields.
