Curious Discover Update Finding
Using Quicken Classic Premier on a older Windows 10 desktop. This describes a curious finding when trying to update Discover Transactions. Like others, my Updates for Discover transactions stopped updating on August 30, 2024. Repeated attempts failed. Then I clicked on the small gear (settings) icon at the top right of the screen. This presented a menu of various command choices, the top one of which is "Update Now - Ctrl-Alt-U". Surprisingly, selecting this command choice allowed the program to find and download all missing transactions, while the other "standard" One Step Update would consistent fail. I find that this difference in command results (one works, one fails) suggests the complexity of the overall program. I can not figure out why one command works, but the seemingly identical command does not work. The Quicken programmers should hunt down the differences in the internal code for both commands to suggest the possible cause of the problems with One Step Update. Just sayin'. FYI. Ken

Before Express Web Connect+, with the Express Web Connect method, Update Now essentially did an immediate first time download from the FI via the aggregation server (Intuit) and One Step Update did a download from what the aggregation server had collected the previous night.
Now, if Discover uses EWC+, I'm not sure what the process is, but the old process could explain why one works and the other doesn't. It could be something as simple as Discover is blocking institutional (Intuit) downloads from happening at night due to system loads, but that is just one of many reasons that could cause such an issue.
