Why do my reports keep getting corrupted?

This has been an issue for several years (possibly longer, but I only noticed it several years ago). And it seems that it has been more frequent over the last 1-2 years. My income and spending reports accumulate errors.

For example, in an Income/Expense comparison report that I re-created and saved just a few months ago, the Interest Income line for the current time period (YTD) shows $3900 and change. But when I click on that number to open up the detailed report for int. income, the total changes to $4100 and change.

I've taken to spot checking figures in this manner from time to time to try to verify the accuracy of my reports, as well as generating and saving variations on some reports to compare to one another. But obviously this should not be necessary and defeats the purpose of using personal finance software and reports (at least some of the purposes).

I am currently running running ver R58.9 on Win10pro. But as I said, this is an on-going problem that I've had with previous versions of Q.

Thanks for any guidance or suggestions you can offer.

This may require some detailed and methodical troubleshooting.

I would start by comparing the comparison report to another report, such as the Itemized Categories report, for the same time period. If the totals disagree, make sure the accounts or Categories are the same between the reports.

If the totals still disagree, adjust the ending date of the reports to find the first date when they disagree. Then find the Category where the first disagreement occurs.

This will identify one or more problem transactions. Is there something unusual about them - splits, transfers, balance adjustments, etc?
