When will Quicken Support fix the CC-501 error when creating a connection to HSBC-Expat?

The Question says it all. I have a new account with HSBC-Expat ("Channel Islands and Isle of M"). The New Account menu lists this bank as a usable service, but the connection fails after I answer the usual ID/password prompt. The Quicken CC-501 Error Message goes on to say it's QUICKEN'S fault and instructs me NOT to contact the bank. Instead, "… wait a few days." I've done that and it still doesn't work.

I've called Quicken Customer Support (Support Ticket #11305658). We spoke for nearly an hour and even did a "remote access" connection so the tech could see the problem. He couldn't fix and ended with the suggestion I "… call the bank" which I did. The bank today says (predictably) "Call Quicken."

So, Quicken, the ball is back in your court. Please read these report details again (slowly…) and then fix and report the resolution so I can re-attempt to establish this connection.

Many thanks!

This is a Community forum with mostly other users. There are a few Moderators who are Quicken employees who can provide some assistance in using Quicken and troubleshooting but they are not Quicken Support folks. If one sees your post then maybe they might offer some guidance on what you can/should do.

I don't know anything about HSBC but noticed that there are a lot of different HSBC options in Quicken's Add Account. As I looked into it some, it struck me is that you mention HSBC-Expat but then you also say "Channel Islands and Isle of M". These appear to me to be two separate financial institutions in Add Account.:

    • HSBC Expat has a web URL of https://www.expat.hsbc.com/. But there is no Add Account listing for HSBC-Expat. So, if you really are banking with HSBC-Expat, then you should know that they do not currently support Quicken with that bank name.
    • Looking further through the FIDIR.txt file (Financial Institutions Directory list), however, I did notice that there is a HSBC Expat listing shown in Add Account as HSBC Offshore Banking that has this same https://www.expat.hsbc.com/ URL. Have you tried using this HSBC Offshore Banking listing in Add Account to set up downloading?
    • You also referenced "Channel Islands and Isle of M". This HSBC website has the URL of https://ciiom.hsbc.com/. If this is the website you use to access your bank accounts then you might want to try using the HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of M listing in Add Account.

Let me know if either of these options worked for your or if you have any questions.

If neither of them worked for you: What is the URL you use to log into your HSBC back accounts? There are several other HSBC options that it can be compared to to see if perhaps one of those might be the right one for you.
