Reconciling Entered and Downloaded Transaction Errors, Sometimes

I use Quicken for Windows 10, version R59.6, build 27.159.6.

Several times (not all the time) when I enter a transaction into Quicken on my laptop and then download transactions from my credit union that transaction is matched. Then when I reconcile the transactions Quicken will show an imbalance and add a deposit or debit back into the register.

For instance, today my wife made a purchase from "Old Navy" in the amount of $24.77. I manually entered that expenditure into the Quicken register. When I synced Quicken to my bank, Quicken showed a match in the downloaded transactions. I accepted the match which marked the transaction as cleared. I then told Quicken to reconcile (CTRL R) the account. The reconcile window showed an imbalance of $-24.77. I then completed the reconciliation process and Quicken added a balance adjustment deposit of $24.77. If I wait a day or two and do another download from the credit union, match all the transactions and the reconcile (CTRL R) the reconciliation window shows an imbalance of $+24.77. When accepting this, Quicken then enters a deduction of $-24.99. Thereby nullifying the deposit Quicken entered.

I've contacted Quicken, shared the screen so they could see what was happening. The tech told me I was not using Quicken properly and should only reconcile at the end of or beginning of the month when I get a bank statement. He refused to acknowledge that Quicken has an error and told me to ask the Community.

So, has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

P.S. If I delete the "balance adjustment" Quicken entered, the next time I enter transactions and reconcile everything is OK ($0.00) difference.

There is no need to SHOUT by posting in ALL CAPS.

The issue appears to be that your credit union is not updating the online balance at the same time as the transactions, or that you are having an issue with pending transactions. If you go to Edit > Preferences > Pending transactions, what is the overall setting at the top, and if it is On, what is the setting for this account?

I leave the Pending transactions setting Off, and I do not have issues with reconciling to the online balance. Another option is that if you see an imbalance like this, you select Finish later on the Reconcile screen and wait for the imbalance to be resolved.

Sorry about the caps. I just usually leave caps lock on.

Pending transactions is and has been off.

I'll try logging onto my Credit Union Account on line to check what the balance is when I get the imbalance error.

It just doesn't make any sence that it doesn't happen on every transaction. Just some transactions. Sometimes it will be 2-4 transactions added together.

    I'll post what I find.

    Thanks for the advice.
