Had to change my Schwab logon and unable to locate where in Quicken for Windows I need to change. Tried to update Sahwab acounts in Quicken using 'tools' , 'one step update' and the password vault no longer comes up to ask me for my password and I'm nable to update any of my investments. When I go to the password vault and try to locate where I update the latest signon unable to do it. Any suggestions?

PW Vault is only for Direct Connect (DC) connected accounts. If you are not being prompted to enter your PW Vault password it means that you do not have any DC connected accounts.

Schwab has an Express Web Connect+ (EWC+) connection so there are no PW's involved. Instead, during the EWC+ account set up process you are taken to the Schwab website where you log in and you authorize Schwab to download into Quicken. Schwab then provides a security token to the aggregator (Intuit) which the aggregator then uses to download from Schwab during OSU or Update Now. That data will then be downloaded from there into your Quicken file.

I'm guessing there is nothing you need to do in Quicken regarding your Schwab PW change because your PW is not used. Have you tried doing OSU or Update Now to see if Schwab is updating your account data (shares, prices, balances, etc.) in Quicken?

If this does not work and if you have only one Schwab account: Go to Account Details > Online Services tab > click on Reset Account > if prompted, make sure to Link the downloaded data to your existing account in Quicken.

If you have more than one Schwab account: Go to Account Details > Online Services tab > click on Deactivate > repeat these 3 previous steps for the other Schwab account(s) > Tools > Add Account > select Schwab and follow the prompts to authorize Schwab to download into Quicken > when prompted, make sure to Link the downloaded data to your existing accounts in Quicken.

Let me know if this resolved the issue for you.

I updated EWC and it appeared to connect with Schwab but none of my accounts were updated. I have an account with Vanguard and that continues to work which verifies that the problem is caused by my updating my Schwab login. Also, prior to making the logon change I had to provide a password for Quicken's PW vault so I might have had direct connect. I will continue to plod along and worst case, I will contact Quicken on Monday. Thanks for your help boatnmanic. I appreciate it.

Sorry to hear that simply doing OSU did not work. Did you try doing the 2nd (Reset Account) and 3rd (Deactivate/Add Account) troubleshooting steps?

I can assure you that there is nothing in Quicken itself that has any dependence whatsoever on PWs when it comes to EWC+ connections. And there is absolutely no place in Quicken to enter that new Schwab PW. If the security token provided by Schwab is affected by a PW change, then doing Reset Account or Deactivate/Add Account should resolve that issue because both of these actions will cause Schwab to issue a new token to the aggregator (Intuit).

BTW, Schwab has not supported DC for nearly 2 years. Schwab supports only EWC+…not to be confused with EWC.
