I have an account I use to record my asset purchases/home inventory. It's not the Quicken account, as I know they have retired that functionality.
When I make a credit card purchase for items, I record each item separately, like this.
When I go to the interim Asset Account, it is recorded like this. It takes the description for the first split line, and the total amount of the transaction to the Interim Asset account.
I have done it this way for decades (I'm not kidding), and now it doesn't work.
I looked if there was a setting related to split transactions but could find one.
