Why is there not a QuickPay option for this card?

    Unfortunately, Quick Pay is not currently available for any financial institutions that use Express Web Connect+. While the option to get Quick Pay is still being explored, we do not have an ETA on if/when that would be implemented. I can reach out internally to the proper channels to check on this, however, I cannot guarantee that I will have any further information to share beyond this.

    @Quicken Anja - A while back it was announced that the EWC+ connection method with Chase does not support Quick Pay. I was also told that Quicken was exploring options to get Quick Pay functionality added to EWC+. Can you tell us what the current status on this is?

    More specifically, does this apply to any FI that uses EWC+ or is that specific to Chase only?

    If your bank (the one that runs your checking account) recently required you to reauthorize your checking account and/or your bank has changed from "Direct Connect" to "Express Web Connect" or "Express Web Connect+" you can no longer use Online Bill Pay direct to the bank or Quicken Bill Manager's Quick Pay function. The bank no longer supports this function through Quicken.

    IMHO, you have these alternatives (in no particular order of preference):
    1. Use Quicken Bill Manager's Check Pay making sure to submit payment early enough (at least 3 weeks before due date) to allow time for delivery and processing. Note: limited number of free transactions per month.

    2. Every month logon to the bank's website and, using the bank's Bill Pay service, schedule your bill pay payments to be executed by the bank from your checking account. In parallel to that, in Quicken use a regular Scheduled Reminder to record your payment. Repeat both actions every time another payment is due.

    3. Bypass Bill Manager. Let the biller's (or credit card company's) computer system do all the work for you. Logon to the biller's website once and set up their Autopay, APS, Direct debit, etc. service to make the current payment and all future payments on Due Date directly from your checking account. In parallel to that, in Quicken, every month, record a regular Scheduled Reminder to keep track of your payments before they come due.

    4. Write (or print with Quicken) a paper check and mail it to the biller, making sure to mail payment early enough (at least 10 days before due date) to allow time for delivery and processing.

    I've been using method #3 for decades, since before the Internet and transaction download capabilities were even introduced. It's easy to get used to this process. And I have yet to miss a single payment.

    I've been using Quicken since it first became available and I have also used your method #3 for many of my bills, though for some, I prefer a bit more control over the payment. Might need to give this approach some more thought. I haven't used Scheduled Reminders much before, but I probably will set more of them up going forward.

    I posted this question because I was exploring the possibility of using the Quicken Bill Pay feature and discovered that only the CheckPay option was available for the Citi card. After reading several posts describing Quicken Bill Pay as, shall we say, a work in progress, I decided against using it for now.

    I use @UKR's #3 suggestion extensively and have done it that way for many years. Never have to worry about scheduling payments and if the biller fails to process the payment properly then they do not hold you accountable for a late or missed payment. I have the billers set up to email me the monthly bill amount and I have monthly recurring Bill Reminders set up for them in Quicken. So, once a month when I get the emailed bill I just update the amount in the Reminder and, if necessary, the payment due date and then immediately enter the Reminder so it is accounted for on the correct date for the correct amount in the Account Register. Works like a charm with never a problem.

    I am one of the lucky ones that still has DC Bank Bill Pay (with PNC Bank) although who knows for how much longer. There are only 2 bills that I pay using this process each month and that is because the billers charge a fee for incurring some fee for doing ACH transfers from my bank to pay my bill. (They are gov't so they are required to charge the fee and not use tax revenues to pay for them.) PNC decides whether to pay the bills by mailed check or by ACH transfer (i.e., "Quick Pay"). In my case, those 2 billers get paid by check. I haven't figured out how handling and processing a paper check is less expensive than processing an ACH transfer with the bank…..SMH.
