Quicken crashed without error at end of One Step Update

Don't recall this ever happening before in 35 years of using Quicken.

On starting Quicken I installed the 59.10 update.

Started a One Step Update which includes about 5 bank accounts, 4 cc accounts, and 7 investment accounts.

The only thing I did that I typically don't do was click and drag the OSU dialog on its title bar to try to move it a bit to the right so I could see underneath. It didn't move, seemed stuck in place.

It looked like the banking and cc accounts were done, but I think it was still doing the final securities updates.

About 2 seconds later Quicken just disappeared. No error message from the application or Windows. No process running in task mgr. Just gone.

I started Quicken again. It started normally. I reconciled all the banking/cc downloads and that looked fine. The closing prices hadn't been updated for today.

I ran OSU again and it completed fine and updated the prices.

Weird.

Unless you can reproduce this at will, it sounds like a computer memory issue. At the very least, I'd restart the system ASAP.

I had the exact same thing happen this morning. On version 58.14 and Windows 10. When I reopened Quicken the update summary showed the update had actually finished. So, crash happened right after update was done. Got lots of memory (sadly only in computer) and only Quicken running.

Happened to me yesterday (quicken 58.14, windows 10). Also happened about a year ago:

Happened again this morning just about 2 weeks after last crash. Same as before Quicken crashes right after One Step Update process finishes. All I did was open Quicken and click OSU button. When I restart all the updates have been received and are ready for review. Crash occurs randomly, is sudden and definitely happens as Quicken finishes OSU processing of 5 web connect + accounts.

Update. The next time I ran OSU Quicken re synced with the cloud. So, it appears that the problem occurs when Quicken is updating and either loses or thinks it lost it's cloud connection during the prior OSU update. Much like it does when you recover a data file. It would be helpful if other members that are having this problem observe the same behavior and report it.

This has happened to me twice in the last couple weeks. Both times, when I re-opened Q and restarted OSU it went through a cloud sync (I don't use mobile & web so it was a routine account sync). The first time it appeared that OSU had completed successfully but the second time it did not. I'm using R59.10.

Thanks Jrich75. As I looked over this and the last year's post it appears that it might be the same problem. Quicken revisions don't seem to matter nor does the OS. There didn't seem to be any help from Quicken in the prior year's post. However, a member's suggestion was to reinstall or update to the most current version and scrub/validate your data file. While I'm skeptical. because it occurs so sporadically, since there are so few of us having this problem, perhaps it's worth a try. At least let's keep posting our experiences as detailed as we can.
