How can I create a report showing forced savings over time?
I was able to to this on the Macintosh side, and was quite pleased to be able to do this. The concept is: how do I create a report showing the net transfers to loans (such as mortgage and car loans), plus the amounts transferred from my paycheck to my 401(k) account?
The notion here is that loan interest is an expense, but net payments (reductions in principal) on periodic loans are transfers, as are transfers to a 401(k) account. I can't seem to get Windows Quicken side to make a report showing how much has been transferred to my 401(k) account over time.
I consider this functionality to be quite important. The value of making a report of forced savings is that it enables me to verify that my forced savings are less than the difference between my income and expenses. I think it is true for many people, and has been true for me at some points in my life, that is not the case, with the result that people accumulate credit-card debt.

That's not hard to do. During the selected period in a test file I transferred money to my Coinbase Account (standing in for the 401(k) ) and made a payment against my House Loan :
In this relatively easy case only the Checking Account was selected under the "Accounts" tab of the Customization screen as the Account feeding information to the report, and only the House Loan Account and the Coinbase Account were selected under the "Categories" tab. The "Advanced" tab directed that all Transfers should be included in the report.

Yep, that's about right, thank you. The data migration from Macintosh Quicken to Windows Quicken isn't perfect — though much better than when I migrated the other way several years ago — but the reports are quite a bit better on the Windows side.
