Report for Custom Recurring Period

Is there a way to make a transaction report for a recurring period using custom dates? For example, if you're trying to track credit card expenses based on monthly cycles so you know you're paying at least that part of your balance every month (without having to go back a check cc statements). Essentially, instead of a 'Last Month' report, it would be a 'Previous Cycle' report… same exact report, just different start/end dates.

Select Custom Dates for period and just enter the beginning and ending dates for that particular billing cycle.

Thanks for the quick reply Richard. I was thinking more along the lines of a report I could save and just run with one click every month… like a transaction report for 'Last Month' except it would remember that the last month was the 18th-17th instead of 1st-31st.

I do it now entering the specific dates every time but that gets a little tedious with multiple credit cards. I also find myself having to go back to each card to to look up the cycle dates, but this time I finally decided to use monthly reminder transactions for each card with the cycle period in the memo field.

Quicken hasn't got that ability. About the best you can do here is set up customized and memorized reports for each credit card. If the statement date happens to always fall on a certain "day of month" date (e.g., always the 4th) then you could save the report each time you use it and only have to change the month dates the next time you use it. If the statement date "floats" a bit from month to month it's a bit more work.

Yep that's where I'm at now. Thanks Tom:) I was thinking of submitting a suggestion to Quicken to make 'Custom Cycles' a feature in a future version, but there might not be much demand for it. Another way around it (and another neat feature) would be for Quicken to automatically run reports and save the history. In that case you could set up a 'Last 30 Days' transaction report and have Quicken run it monthly a day or two after the statement cycle for the credit card. Anyway… you can only automate things so much🤷‍♂️

A couple of alternatives for your consideration…

There is a Credit Card accounts snapshot you can add to a custom Home tab view that shows info about all of your credit card accounts including current balances.

Does your bank offer bill presentment? I’ve had BofA’s bill presentment for a lot of years. From the BofA website, I see the bill with payment amount, balance amount, and due date. I can click to view and download a PDF of the statement. And I can schedule the payment to be paid from my BofA account or from another linked account like my Fidelity brokerage account.

Thanks Higgins. I remember the credit card summary from the old dashboard… it definitely was a nice snapshot of current balances, and I liked that I could see the interest rates right there. I don't think it had an option to break out totals per cycle though.

I'm not sure if my credit cards have bill presentment, I'll have to check that out. As far as I know it's just the digital statements and pdf downloads… and those do show a total for new charges in the cycle, but was hoping to find a way automate the process all in one place so I wouldn't have to go to each CC site at various times during the month to look up the info. Since the data's all already going into Quicken, it would be pretty slick to just have Quicken give me those totals for each cycle… which it's already set up to do in Reports, it would just require the ability to adjust the start/end days for the report period (and then use those adjusted days for each new report).

    Thanks again:)

With BofA, I get bills presented for my BofA, Chase, and Citibank credit cards. Plus phone, internet, and utility bills. So the majority of my bills are available in one place.
