Closing prices
If you download prices after the market close you get after hours trading prices. Is there a way to get closing proces?

To receive just the closing prices, go to Edit > Preferences > Investments and un-check the Real-time quotes box. This will fix this issue going forward but will not correct your historical data.

I typically (always?) get closing prices. Are you set up to get "real time" prices (Edit / Preferences / Investments)? If so, you might try unchecking that box.

Jim: so if I set the date for 12/31/ 2023 and I had "real time" chosen at that time I will not get closing prices?
Also: with Real Time off if I update prices by hitting quotes during the day will I get delayed prices or real time prices at that moment?
Thanks guys

Quicken stores at most one price value per day in its price history for each security. The value that is stored might come from one of several sources and there is a hierarchy that determines which price is stored, as explained on this Help page
If the last time the price for 12/31/23 was updated was after the close of trading on that date and Real-time quotes were enabled, the value stored might be based on after hours trading. But if you downloaded quotes again within a week (I think) the after-hours price should have been replaced with the correct closing price.
If real-time quotes are disabled and you update while the market is open, the prices will be delayed by 20 minutes or so. I have not seen a definitive answer on how close to real time the "real-time" quotes are.
Because of this and other issues with Quicken's real-time quotes, I leave that option turned off.

Thanks Jim. I use it almost exclusively for closing daily prices so off it goes. It looks like a mess to me.
It seems that since Quicken was spun off no meaningful improvements have happened other than the price has tripled. Oh for Microsoft Money.
