Investment register display "zeroed" after last entry update

This is my second attempt to post, since the previous is not found.

Editing the last transaction in an investment account results in all entries displaying as "MiscExp" with all fields zeroed except Shares. The Value of the securities in the account is correct. This happened twice this morning in separate accounts. This account has 20+ years of transactions.

If I show another account, the register displays correctly. If I return to the affected account, I then see a blank version of the Investment "Dashboard" instead of a register.

This is a display problem, since restarting Quicken shows the correct register. Validate shows no significant findings.

Is that particular investment account register trying to flip from Tracking Method: Complete - Positions and transactions
to Simple - Positions only because the brokerage no longer supports downloading using Direct Connect protocol?

    What brokerage?
What Download connection method? Direct Connect or Express Web Connect?

The Tracking Method setting can be found in Edit Account Details, General tab.
The connection method can be found in Edit Account Details, Online Services tab.

I saw this same behavior the other day when I created an offline account in a new Quicken file to simulate the growth of $10,000 graph multiple stock split bug. Validation showed no errors.

Exited and restarted Quicken and the display was back to normal. Same version of Quicken as @M$D indicated.

    Via testing …
    Brokerage does not matter.
    All accounts are Complete tracking.

The account pictured is Fidelity, 401k, Direct Connect.

I can't reproduce the issue in that account this morning now that additional entries have been downloaded. When it occurred, I reproduced the issue several times in multiple (3) accounts, including EWC+.

Entering a bond transaction with accrued interest results in two entries, one for the purchase or sale, and another with either MiscInc or MiscExp in the action field. But the entries aren't saves until the focus moves out of the last entry. When I use page down to get to the next entry space, it asks if I want to save the previous entry. When I click yes, it enters the transactions and then changes ALL previous entries with the same action tag as the last one. Moving to a different account and back to the first one doesn't clear the display. The only way I've been able to clear the erroneous display is to exit Quicken and restart it. The first time it happened I nearly had a heart attack, thinking I would need to re-enter all that data.

Has anyone else experienced this? And is it fixable? I'm using the latest version of Quicken Classic Deluxe (with current updates) in Windows 10 (yes, I know it's going to be phased out.)

Please see the attached screenshots for an example.

    Hello @Klhansen,

To assist with this, please provide more information. When did you first notice this issue? Which version of Quicken were you using when this started? Are you inputting this information directly into the register, or are you using the Enter Transactions button at the upper left of the register, and filling out the information there? Is this happening in only one account, or are you seeing it in multiple accounts?

I look forward to your response!

Noticed this probably 6 months ago. Currently using Quicken Classic Deluxe Ver R59.18, Build 27.1.59.18.

I'm inputting directly into the register. Have never used the Enter Transactions button, but occasionally get to that screen when editing. I can make this happen almost at will with the steps I outlined in any investment account.

Found an archived post from March 2024 with the same issue reported. Pretty sure I have seen other more recent posts with the same issue.

This has happened to me only once so far, after I hit the Escape key while doing something in the register (sorry, I don't exactly recall what I was trying to do at that moment).

IIRC, just switching to another view and then switching back to the investment register restored the correct view.

I have the same experience on 2 of 6 Charles Schwab accounts after reconciling interest or dividend transactions at least twice a month for the past 6-7 months. The issue always is with only those 2 accounts.
