Transaction Split by % on Quicken for Mac

Question

Hello -

It is possible to memorize a split transaction by %, so all new charges are split based on the memorized amount?

I am running Version 7.9.1 (Build 709.54540.100) on macOS 15.0.1.

If there is no way to do this now, is this planned for a future release?

Sorry, I’m not familiar enough with the Windows version to know if allocating  splits by percentage is an existing feature. Perhaps one of the Windows experts here can answer that. If it does exist, then there would be an easier path for adding it to Quicken Mac.

@jacobs - thanks for the quick and detailed reply, I am so grateful!  I will go vote for this now. As to the syncing with the other product lines (web and windows) I thought I read on these forms that this feature is already available on the windows version?

Did I miss read that?

No, there is no capability currently to create memorized splits based on a percentage of the transaction total (e.g. 70% to category A and 30% to category B).

You should click the View Post link above and add your vote for it, by scrolling to the top of the page, finding the yellow box, and clicking the little black up arrow under the vote counter. You can also add a comment giving your use case where such functionality would be useful.

This topic hasn't yet garnered a lot of activity; the thread currently shows 14 votes (plus 5 "merged" votes from an older forum platform in the text of the subject line, for a total of 19 votes. Ideas need to reach at least 30 votes for the moderators here to be able to forward the topic to the development team for official consideration. After such a develop review, the thread may be changed to a status of "Planned" if the developers have agreed with it and blocked out development time on their calendar.

One challenge with this particular idea is that it would have to work with the Quicken mobile app and web interface as well, and mobile/web needs to be synced to some degree with Quicken Windows, which shares the online tools. So this likely isn't something the Quicken Mac team could implement on their own, without agreement and development work from the Quicken Windows and Quicken Mobile teams.
