Remove Transactions-Spending-Income and filter options?

My actual registers are being crowded out of my screen with creep from the sidebar on the side and more and more things filling the top portion of the screen. Is there a way to to hide the transactions-spending-income buttons and the dates/types/filter options? I would rather see more entries in my register than see these options. Thank you!

Nope, unfortunately the buttons and filters above the register can't be hidden or shrunk.

As for the sidebar, you can adjust its width by dragging the divider between the sidebar and the register transactions. If you drag it all the way to the left (or click the little screen icon at the top/right of the sidebar), it will collapse into a very narrow column, allowing you to have more room for register columns.

Hmmm, I'm a little puzzled trying to understand your post, since I'm not aware of anything which has changed in the overall user interface. The sidebar on the left shouldn't be any larger than it ever was, and you can always make it narrower (by dragging the right side of the sidebar towards the left) or even hide it* when you're not using it. How is the sidebar creeping into your main screen any more than it ever has?

*To hide/unhide the left sidebar, click the right-most icon at the top of the sidebar:

The two lines at the top of each register, for Transactions/Spending/Income and for Filters, have likewise always been there. I just checked my memory with an old copy of the original modern Quicken Mac, the 10 year-old Quicken 2015, and the top of the screen is nearly identical to the current appearance:

The only thing which has changed at the top of the screen was the redesign of the menu bar in version 6.0 four years ago. But when I line up the 10 year-old Quicken 2015 alongside the current Quicken Mac, the top of the screen above the transactions is actually very slightly smaller now than it was back 10 years ago.

So that's all just to say that if you have a perception that there has been creep from the left or top over time, there actually hasn't.

Now, let's return to the heart of your question: can you create more space for transactions?

Horizontally, as described above, you can hide the sidebar when you don't need it.

Vertically, you cannot hide those lines for Transactions/Spending/Income and filters. I think it would cause many people confusion if those lines could be hidden, and they didn't realize they had a filter set for a date range or only income or expenses. Also, the right side of those lines house the Search box, and hiding that would be problematic, too. So getting rid of/hiding those lines not only isn't possible currently, I don't think it would be a practical change. BUT… there are things you can do to make more rows visible.

At the bottom of your register, do you have the Toolbar set to show? If so, and you want to hide it to use that space for an extra row or two of transactions, you can go to Settings > Register and set the Register Toolbar to "Always Hide" or "Automatically Hide and Show".

The other thing you can do to see more transactions is to change the spacing between rows. Go to View > Register Text & Row Settings, and experiment with the different options for the Row Height setting. The default ("Comfortable") setting wastes a lot of space, in my opinion; I personally prefer the "Compact" row height setting. You can make the lines even closer, with the "Tiny" setting, if you don't find that too tight.

I hope one or more of these things will help you reclaim more usable space on your Quicken screen.
