Multifactor authorization required only by Quicken?

What's going on when ONLY Quicken Classic Premier (Version 7.10.1 (Build 710.55389.100) on MacOS 15.1 is requiring multi-factor authorization when the settings via the browser do not have multi-factor authorization enabled i.e…

When I log into the banking site directly via my browser there is no multi-factor authorization but when I "Update All Accounts" in Quicken multi-factor authorization is required. This is only for one of my financial institutions (Canvas Credit Union), all the others work as configured.

My Accounts that require 2 factor authentication send a text to my cell phone so Quicken can access the data. The same accounts opened with browser do not require 2FA. Seems normal what yours is doing. My accounts have option in my account settings at the FI to turn off 2FA but I don't want to turn it off….

Windows 11 (2 separate computers)..... Quicken Premier.. HAVE USED QUICKEN CONTINUOUSLY SINCE 1985.

Thanks for your response yet what I am saying is that my accounts do NOT require 2FA or as Quicken calls it, multi factor authorization, so why is it that just this one FI and ONLY on Quicken is requiring it? (2FA is turned OFF at this particular FI). It mucks up my whole auto-download and auto-reconciliation process waiting for me to perform the authorization.

I actually think the issue may be related to this particular FI not having a "Connected Apps" feature that is on some of my other FI's which have previously authorized secure connections between Quicken and the FI. For example if I go to my Costco/Citicard account online, Quicken is listed as a "connected app" denoting prior authorization setup.,

Let's see what the experts may have to offer!

That might be a question better asked of your financial institution. Quicken is just passing along the 2FA request from the FI; it's not as if Quicken is popping it up out of thin air. It may be that the FI decided for security reasons that access by Quicken/third-party automated applications require 2FA in all cases, irrespective of whether you have it on or off for access on the website. Or it could be a programming error that that FI is requesting 2FA for third-party access without checking the 2FA preference you have set on your account.
