Any way to avoid Vault Password just to update transax?

R59.35 Build 27.1.59.35. I live alone. No one but me uses Quicken. Is there a way to avoid the frequent prompt request to enter my Vault PW when wanting to download and update all my transactions? I don't know exactly how often the prompt request cycles before the next timed request is set to require the Vault PW but it is annoying and unnecessary, given that no one else but me uses Quicken.

Have you considered Schedule updates? This allows Quicken to open a session to download transactions so the next time you open Quicken the transactions are waiting for you. This can be set up under the Tools menu. Selecting At Windows startup requires only one entry of the Vault password.

Yes I had considered it, but I wanted more control over when the updates were done. But, if there is just no other way to remove the PW prompt, then I guess I will pre-schedule it. Thanks!

Except as described above, there is no way to get around the Password Vault request. It is there for security for the rare occasion that some unfriendly person (like a thief) got to your computer and it just makes good cybersecurity sense to have passwords securely protected.

I still don’t see the rationale for keeping me, as the owner/user of my Quicken, from downloading and updating my accounts without the secrecy. For that matter, any thief who wants to come into my house to steal all of my Quicken info (acct balances, transactions, payments, investment portfolio values and progress, all bank account numbers and other bank info, etc.), can do so anytime and without hindrance. I keep Quicken open 24/7 and it closes only when Windows upgrades overnight and re-starts my PC. I then start Quicken the next morning and it opens up without requiring login or a PW. Again, the only time the PW is required is when accessing the vault to download that last payment I may have made from my checking acct to the pool store the day before. But, again, as I’ve said, I’ll have to accept the conditions and let it update automatically during the time I setup overnight (and hope the thief isn’t sitting in front of my PC waiting for Win to update so he can start Quicken without login on and look through all my finances).

If you can switch your connection method(s) from Direct Connect to Express Web Connect+, you can eliminate use of the Password Vault.

Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro.
