Does Quicken Classic still automatically check for updates

Until recently, well I guess as far back as January, I used to when downloading transactions periodically get a notification that a new release was available and be able to download and install it.

Realizing this hadn't happened recently, I went to "Check for Updates" in the Help menu and found I was several updates out of date. Does Quicken no longer automaticaly check for updates?

Yes, it does check for updates. Personally, I have a Firewall rule that blocks that check and about every third or fourth day, Quicken fails to start due to the update check being blocked. When it fails, I just start it again and it starts as normal.

Strange. I'm reasonably sure I don't have anything blocking it, but it apparently hadn't checked since January.

Do you do One Step Update? That is where I normally get the announcement that there is an update (in fact that happened today).

Lots of people have complained that Quicken will check for updates when starting up and install them without asking, so maybe they removed that???

Don't know, I always just install the new updates as they come in.

Yes, I use One Step Update and used to get the notification of updates in conjunction with that. I don't think it ever installed the updates without asking though. I don't know why it stopped even notifying and asking about updates. If I'm lucky, doing "Check fr Updates" today will have kick started something. I'll pay attention to what happens for a while.

Yeah, the "without asking" is the part that should be changed. I prefer the option of saying NO and install at a later time.

It used to ask, but it seems it may not anymore. Still not 100% sure.

Today during One Step Update, I received notice of available updates with an offer to update which I did. So this time, at least, a check was made and the update was optional.
