Why does Investment Performance Report show "Some IRR Calculations are Incomplete"

Windows Version R59.35

Multiple Investment accounts dating back to December 31, 2001. Some accounts closed but transferred to new brokerage locations.

When I launch Investment Performance Report (which defaults to include All Accounts) I receive "Some IRR Calculations are Incomplete" message.

1st question is Why do I get this message?

2nd question - if due to a specific account, how do I find which account(s) is causing this message?

Thanks,

MJB

Read the detail of the message. IRR (Internal Rate of Return) is the same as what Quicken usually calls Average Annual Return.

You get this message because one or more of the items in whatever you are subtotaling by has a ridiculous IRR, over +10,000% or below -1,000%. This happens for example if an account has zero investment and returns for the period, i.e. it was empty for the whole period. .

The items that are causing the message will have N/A in the Avg. Annual Return column.

I wonder if some of those unused investment accounts are not zeroed out…. could be a few rounding errors on the cost basis of some of the investments - that is what I have found over time.

for me, I do not run an Ave Ann. return on all my accounts for all of time; I'll limit it to the last year or so and limit to the accounts that are active. That normally eliminates the greater than 1000% entries.
