Cleaning up Report Payee list

Is there a way to clean up the payee list presented when customizing a report? I would like to delete/merge payees to eliminate many and merge others where the spelling is off. It would help when doing searches for specific payees

Thanks

If I recall correctly, report payee list is a combination of Memorized Transactions payees and something like payees used in the last 12 months. You can clean up Memorized Transactions payees via Tools | Memorized Transactions, but there is no way to edit other source, the payees used in the last 12 months.

You may find another Quicken feature helpful for finding payees and/or transactions, the All Transactions register. You can access the All Transactions register via the link at the top of the Account Bar. Using the search filter at the top of the All Transactions register lets you quickly try out various payee spellings. Once you have the register filtered, you can edit the transactions directly to change/correct payees.

Thanks. I assumed that was the answer. I often modify Memorized transactions. It would be nice to be able to clean up Report payee lists.

Relative to memorized transactions I'd like to see a feature to be able to turn off save of memos and tags included in the memorized payee workstream.

Another function you can use to clean up banking register transactions is Edit / Find/Replace.
This allows you to select your mis-spelled Payee = "Mac Donalds" transactions and replace the Payee with your correct spelling, "McDonald's".
Repeat for all other spelling variations.

Please be sure to create a backup of your Quicken data file BEFORE you get started making changes to multiple transactions. If you have many changes to make, create additional backups as you proceed. If you make a mistake that you cannot undo easily, restoring your last backup may be the only way out without losing to much time and labor.

Yes I've used edit/find/replace often. Thanks.

Some of the need to correct more often is because of the change in the last number of months to downloaded payee names. Have you/anyone noticed that they have become very abbreviated? At times they are unrecognizable. Interestingly, when I go to create a renaming rule Quicken displays a downloaded name that is longer and more descriptive than what was actually downloaded. The next time it happens I'll post an example

@acs2 the severely abbreviated payee names is a known issue that apparently has been recently resolved, according to this announcement.
