for several months now, when I download from vanguard to quicken classic, I get all my vanguard funds downloaded as unidentified securities. but non-vanguard funds download properly. this includes both dividend reinvestments and purchases. I have been manually changing each transaction but that is very time-consuming. quicken help told me to start a new file. I don't want to do that obviously, unless absolutely necessary. can you help me please? thanks.

    1. set up a new file as a test and download the transactions. if there are no unidentified securities, it means it's your file.
    2. Take your qdata file and run a validation. Does that solve the issue?
    3. Take your qdata file and run a super-validation. Does that solve the issue?

    This has been going on for several months for me as well. It looks like VG keeps changing the downloaded CUSIP to some random CUSIP that starts with "VGI000" instead of the real cusip. I have tried unmatching the securities, validation, everything and it keeps occuring. I have reached out to VG for help but as usual no response. so FRUSTRATING!

    @AZMike2021

    What's the full CUSIP that's downloading (for any security) and what's is supposed to be? What's the actual fund?

    Because VGI000 looks, to me at least, like a Cdn style fund symbol.

    Is this a 401(k) account? Sometimes the funds in those accounts have similar names but are special versions of publicly traded funds, with different prices and CUSIP numbers.

    If that is the case, you should un-check the Matched to online security box for the problem security. The next time you download transactions, you should get a dialog asking what to do with the new security. Choose Add to Quicken.

    I am with you @AZMike2021 - this is now happening for me with all my Vanguard accounts for all new securities. I need to do the posted workaround every time. It is a pain to have to do this each time a new security is added to Quicken by me or by Vanguard. I haven't looked too closely at the CUSIP numbers. All I know is that what used to work fine doesn't work anymore.

    this is still the same problem with vanguard downloads. It is every time , not just with new securities. Not sure about the CUSIP. Not sure how to see that.
