Stock split changes original share count under Holdings

I moved some funds from Transamerica to Fidelity in December 2023. The share balance in Quicken showed as 238 shares in the new Fidelity account. Then in October 2024, the stock had a 3:1 split. The new share balance was off by the amount of the split.

What I discovered was that in Enter transactions, the 238 shares moved in December 2023 was still showing 238. But if you look under Holdings, the transferred shares had tripled to 714 on that same date in December 2023 (reflecting the 3:1 split), an apparent discrepancy.

The only way I found to fix the share amount was to delete the transaction labeled "added" in Enter transactions (under the StkSplit transaction on 10/11). I cannot find a way to keep the original share amount under Holdings even though Enter transactions shows the correct share amount for that specific date.

This seems like a bug to me. Anyone else have this issue? This happened to several accounts with the Schwab splits in October 2024 involving different Schwab funds.

Enter transactions entry for the fund split

Holding entry shows the change after the split from 238 shares to 714 shares

When you click on Holdings then click on the + sign next to a security, it shows the tax lots you currently hold. What you show appears to be correct: you transferred one lot of 238 shares on 12/28/23 and it has split 3:1 so that lot now has 238 x 3 or 714 shares. If you change the "As of" date in the Holdings view to before the split, you should see the original 238 shares.

What is incorrect here is the Added transaction on 10/11/24. The StkSplit is the only entry you need to account for the split, and the Added must have been incorrectly downloaded. If you delete that, your account in Quicken should have the correct number of shares.

There must have been some other transactions for this security - reinvested dividends? - totaling 2.246 shares pre-split or 6.738 post-split shares that you are not showing.

Yes, that was the only way I knew to correct the share account was to delete the Added transaction on 10/11. That was a common fix to every account that had a Schwab split in October. And yes, there were other reinvested dividends. I didn't mention that since I didn't think it was pertinent to the discussion.

That As of date resolved the conflict. Thanks for that tip. Not sure why the Added transaction was a common error for me. This (downloading investment transactions properly) is still somewhat of a black magic feature in Q for me. ;)

Fidelity should not be downloading any Added transactions associated with stock splits. All you need in Quicken is the StkSplit.
