One step update
I normally do a one step update. The software asks for my password and logs me in. The other day I was making some changes. I got to a point where Quicken wanted me to put my password into a vault. I will keep my password in my head thank you. I did not proceed past this point.
Now, one step update never asks for my password and errors. I can no longer do updates.
How can I go go back and input my password as before?
Thank you for your help and support.

What release number of Quicken are you running? Click Help / About Quicken and it'll tell you: Release R xx.xx
The Password Vault is a required component of Quicken. It stores bank usernames and passwords for all your banks that are activated for transaction downloading and use Direct Connect protocol. When in use, you do not have to enter these items every time you run One Step Update.
To prevent misuse of transaction downloading and Online Bill Pay by unauthorized users, you must enter the Password Vault Password at least once during a Quicken session. For more information please read What is the Password Vault and how do I use it? | Quicken

The PW Vault is saved solely on your computer hard drive inside your Quicken data file. It provides an additional level of security to prevent some unauthorized person from being able to access your online accounts login information.
Since you apparently have been running OSU but have not needed to enter the PW Vault PW until now, it tells me you do not have any accounts set up with the Direct Connect connection method and that you have at least one account set up with the Express Web Connect connection method. It also tells me that for that one (or more) EWC account, during the Add Account or Set Up Now process the box for Save to password vault was checked.
