Problem selling an investment

I entered a transaction to sell an investment. It says that the number of shares that I entered exceeds the number in the holding. When I look at the holding, it lists exactly the number of shares that I am trying to sell. How do I solve the problem? I shut down Quicken and restarted it with no change and did the same with my computer with no change.

I am working in Quicken Deluxe and it was jsut updated

Thanks, Budin

Try clicking the box to sell all shares instead of entering the shares.

I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

It gave me a weird price per share but it accomplished the sale

Is there a good way to reach the Quicken Community? I had to hunt for nearly an hour to find you!

    Thanks for the help!

@budi - The most common reason for getting that message that the quantity you want to sell exceeds the quantity you are holding in Quicken is due to the rounding of a fractional share. For instance, if Quicken shows you are holding 100.009 shares you might actually be holding 100.0089 and the brokerage will have downloaded that 100.0089 shares. But then if you try to sell 100.009 shares like you think you have, then Quicken will think you are trying to sell 0.0001 share more than you actually have.

You can spend time digging thru Quicken to get the actual quantity held but it's usually just easier to check the box for sell all shares and then Quicken will sell exactly what is actually held in Quicken.
