Is there a way to default business name in register? (Q Mac)

Whenever my business checking account transactions are downloaded into Quicken, the business name is not always automatically filled in. I only have one business. Is there a way to have the column called business default to my business name every time a transaction is downloaded? I use Quicken for Mac subscription service but on my Mac studio. Hello @spreusser,
To assist with this issue, please provide more information. Was it previously downloading correctly, and then the behavior changed, or has it always behaved this way? When did you first notice this behavior? For the transactions that do not show the business name in the business column, please check the category. Are they showing a business category or a personal category? If they're showing a personal category, try switching to a business category and see if it automatically puts your business in the business column after you've done that.
I look forward to your response!

The business name should be filled in automatically upon download if you have rules set up for the downloaded payees that categorize the transactions with business categories. That's another way of saying what Kristina has said in her post.
See this screenshot of the Account Settings dialog for a business checking account…. which has under "Primary Use" a business selected … and I've clicked on the "?" bubble to show the tooltip that explains what this means:
Quicken distinguishes business and personal categories and will automatically assign the selected business to any transactions that are given business categories … and will leave the business field blank for transactions that have a non-business category assigned.
One you have rules set up for your typical downloads, this should mostly work out for you. But it won't work for things were there are rules for both business and personal for the same store/vendor/payee, or where you have split transactions - like a Costco trip that included both business and personal items.
Thus, it is possible to have many of your downloaded transactions get the business name… but it unlikely that all of them will get the business name entered without manually changing categories.Quicken user since 1990, MacBook Pro M2 Max on Sequoia 15.3 (and Win 11 under Parallels Desktop)

Thank you, this helps. I DO have the primary use set to my business name in the account settings details window.
So the answer is no, you can't get it to put the business in each transaction no matter what the transaction is. Thus, you have to go through each line and change that manually.
Since this particular bank account is ONLY for business use, I assumed it would just default to the business name in that column and then I could change it based on the category I need to assign it (if no rule is set up or vendor's name is slightly different on the download). It would be easier to weed out the NON-BUSINESS lines (which there are very few of) than have to add it to so many but what you both are saying makes sense.
Thank you so much!

No, you're reaching the wrong concusiong that "no, you can't get it to put the business…" QMac distinguishes between business and personal categories. As long as you have rules set up to set the downloaded transactions to a business category, you're all set. Over time, with creating rules (be sure to check the checkbox for creating a rule), your downloads will do mostly what you want.
You also almost never have to edit transactions one by one in QMac. There is batch editing. Select multiple transactions (shift click a range, or cmd-click multiple non-adjacent ones - perhaps after applying a filter to find the ones you want to change - e.g., business field blank) …then right-click and select "Get Info" - or press cmd-I (eye). Yes, this is an utterly stupid name for Batch Edit, but it's what we're stuck with. Change what needs changing.
