There must be one which you didn't turn off. Usually that is MS OneDrive which is always active in the background even if you don't use it and/or use another cloud backup program. OneDrive tries to process your Quicken data file as soon as Quicken closes it, e.g., when getting ready to perform a backup.
See if you can configure OneDrive to NOT process the folder with your Quicken data file, normally that's the \Documents\Quicken folder.
Alternatively, while Quicken is closed, move this folder and all its subfolders to another C:\Users\_your_username_here_\ folder location not under OneDrive's control.0 -
I have the same issue.
I am still/also have the "unable to open source file" message with Quicken desktop current version R60.15. I have been using one drive and the backup was working until about 11/26/2024. I have tried using only local drive locations and I have disabled one drive. I even tried using a USB drive as the
Even with using only local storage and one drive disabled, the error persists.

@cbsather Configure OneDrive to NOT include the directory where your Q data file resides. Use OneDrive to ONLY copy the Q backup files.

When doing a backup, Q briefly closes your Q data file in order to force all write operations to conclusion.
OneDrive, etc, grab the Q data file during that closure (their fault) and prevent Q from re-opening it.
If you want to backup your QDF to OneDrive you MUST either exclude the Q directory from OneDrive backup (and initiate such manually) OR allow Q to create it's own backup in a directory OTHER the where the QDF is located and then backup the backup.
That's, simply, how things work. It's a OneDrive design flaw, and not anything that Q can do anything about.
