Voting for new ideas

I'm sorry but this question may be posted to the wrong category.

I've read that for a new idea to be addressed by Quicken it needs at least 50 votes. Assuming that this is true, where do we vote? Also, is there a way the Community can push new ideas to users automatically (by choice) when there's a new idea for us to vote upon? If that is not possible could new ideas be posted in the Newsletters with a link to the voting process?

I'm glad @acs2 asked this question, I'm kind of hazy about this voting process as well. Over the years I have had a few ideas, I'm happy to say the Quicken folks took me up on some of my ideas one of which was for the lifetime overview net worth report, which they made even better in the final product, and is one of my favorite reports. That said, I as well as others have asked for additional graphs, I still think a Sankey graph for charting income and expense streams would make a sharp chart. I also have wondered why Quicken does not take advantage of interest rate information that is part of every savings and checking account set up and create some type of report using that useful information. I have asked how the development team decides what enhancements to make and I have never really got a clear answer.

Here's an example of an Idea that's being voted upon

If you go to that thread, you'll see the current vote for it in the lower left corner of the post, with a triangle below the number.

Click on the triangle to add your vote to the post, OR click on it again to remove your vote.

As far as being notified of new Ideas being posted, you can "Follow" the Categories that you're interested in …

Select Categories (marked in red), select one of the category groups that you're interested in. Drill down until you have reached the lowest level. Click on the Follow button to follow this category (or unfollow it if you're no longer interested.

    Repeat for other categories.

Go into your Community User Profile to fine tune your Follow settings, e.g., do you want email notifications or just a notification in your Community webpage's Notification Bell icon count?

Ok, I'll give this a try though I have the impression, which could be erroneous, that there a number of excellent ideas which may never see the light of day because members of the community are unaware that votes are needed for Quicken to consider an idea. It would be wonderful if a knowledgeable member of the community and a Quicken representative would publish the process from post of an idea to acceptance by Quicken to development and finally implementation. It would be helpful to inform us of the steps, a general timeline to expect and ways we can 'lobby' for helpful ideas.

    Process, as I understand it.

    1. An Idea is posted
    2. It collects sufficient votes (believed to be about 50 for QWin US)
    3. The accumulated votes draw the attention of the Developers to the Idea
    4. The Developers (and, presumably, Q management) decide whether to take on the request
    5. The status of the post is updated. "Rejected", "Under Consideration", and "Planned" are common statuses.
    6. If accepted, additional Status updates might be made as appropriate. Status updates are the ONLY notification given.
    7. If accepted, the Idea is included in a release at an unannounced date in the future. The Release notes will describe the update, but not how it came about.

Thanks for that summary. Is there a way to verify these steps and then post it to everyone especially the point that 50 plus votes are required since that seems to be a critical step to move an idea from the Community to Developers. It would be good for those responsible for QWin to be more transparent with their steps and especially estimated due dates

@NotACPA thank you for explaining the process. I have never seen a status posted other than "Under Consideration".

To @acs2 point, for some enhancements especially broad enhancements like "additional charts and graphs" it would be great to have a platform to look/vote for potential chart/graph layouts for example and be able to give some feedback before they are released.

I agree with Jeff76. My sense is that there are probably many good ideas that have been posted and others not yet posted but have not progressed because members have not voted for them. It would be good for our Newsletters to ask members to participate in voting by reminding all of us how to have ideas pushed to us for a vote and remind us of its importance
