Cannot Rearrange Accounts in Register Sidebar

I have tried numerous times to move a seldom used account in the in the accounts sidebar menu from near the tom of my baanking list of accounts to the bottom. When I drag the account to where I want it, it returns back to its original location. The account I am trying to move is a gift card balance account.
I have 13 accounts visible in my banking account list. No matter where I try to move them (drag and drop) they do not remain in the location I move them to. I do have a Reset and Done button available on the Rearrange Accounts menu however neither seems to hold my proposed changes. I'm using Windows 10 Q ver R60. Build 15 27.1.60.15

I don’t know if it changed in the newer version but in my 2013 for Windows…
To sort or alphabetize the account bar you have to open the account list (go to Tools - Account List or Ctrl+A) and highlight one and move it up and down one at a time.
I'm staying on Quicken 2013 Premier for Windows.

On the rearrange menu, when you mouse over a specific account, two dots should appear on the right side. Clicking there should give you the option to move the account to the bottom. Not sure why your drag n drop is not working

The old method of rearranging the order of accounts in the Account List still exists in Subscription although it is slower than the newer method.
A few years ago the newer method was added giving us the ability to change in the Account Bar on the side by simply clicking and dragging it to the desired location. Works much faster but it does have a bug (for me, at least) where an account cannot be dragged to the bottom position of the sub-group it is in. Instead, it needs to be moved to the 2nd from the bottom position and then the bottom account can be dragged above it which then places it in the desired bottom position.
@haroldf747 - The Banking group is broken down into 3 sub-groups: Checking/Cash accounts; Savings accounts; Credit accounts.
The Investing group is broken down into 2 sub-groups: Investment (i.e., taxable) accounts; Retirement (i.e,, tax-deferred and tax-exempt) accounts.
We are able to rearrange the order of accounts only within the sub-group that they belong to. So, we cannot move a checking account to the Savings or Credit subgroups. And we cannot move a taxable brokerage account from the Investment sub-group into the Retirement sub-group. So, if that is what you are trying to do you will not be able to do that.
If, however, you are trying to drag the account to the bottom position of sub-group it belongs to: Try first moving it to the 2nd from the bottom position and then click/drag the bottom position account to above that.
Or, you could do what @volvogirl suggested: Open the Account List and use the account movement method that is provided there.

Have you clicked on MOBILE & WEB in Quicken, to attempt to see your accounts on your phone or tablet? I've found that ever since I clicked on MOBILE & WEB and tried loading the app on my tablet, MY PROBLEMS WITH QUICKEN BECAME EGREGIOUS!
— First of all, Quicken kept changing the OPENING BALANCES which were usually $0, to some other random number, which screwed up my ability to balance several of my checking accts & credit cards! (I believe you mentioned this in an August 2024 post).
— Secondly, Quicken started just skipping downloading a random transaction - both deposits and charges, once again making my reconciliation efforts go haywire. (Some time ago, I started writing BAL $XXXX in the "Reference" column or the "Notes" column, EVEN IN THE OPENING BALANCE transaction, so I could more easily track where reconciliation problems existed — that was a life-saver!)
So I researched this issue, and found that MOBILE & WEB do not work correctly, and don't jive with what you have in your Quicken desktop. So I went to Preferences, Mobile & Web, and TURNED OFF "Sync." That was about a week ago (around mid-Jan. 2025) and I've been trying to see if that helped, but I have so many accounts that I haven't yet decided. However, so far, my main checking accounts haven't changed the opening bal since then.
If anyone is having any unusual problems that they didn't have a while back, I'd suggest turning OFF "Mobile & Web." I hope this helps somebody. Quicken seems to love turning off these chats as soon as possible which is rather annoying, and which doesn't leave the future people much hope of helping someone with a problem, or finding out more about a problem. :-(
