    Interesting discussion. I've just started with Q Classic after using Q 2014 for years. The new version is definitely slower.

    You don't mention the Windows version(s). 10? 11? Pro? Home?

    I have a some programming and I.T. background, not low-level Windows programming like Quicken must be, but a couple of thoughts:

    • Repeated calls to read an INI file may in fact be resolved from a cache. I.e. the program may assume that Windows has cached the file. It just reads it, assuming it will come from memory if available or from the file system if not.
    • How does performance compare between the two machines in general? Maybe run CrystalDiskMark on both to compare SSD read speeds.
