Change Transaction Type on Multiple Transactions
I have a series of transactions all with the type "Interest Income". About 400 such transactions in one register.
They should have been entered with the type "Reinvest: Interest". Ie, the interest should be entered as reinvested.
Is there a way to change them all at once? I know that I can select them all and choose Transactions>Edit Transaction, but that does not allow me to change the Type. And it doesn't offer anything named "reinvest interest".
Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Are you on Mac? Neither your post or profile says.
Unfortunately as you have observed, transaction type is not one of the fields that can be bulk edited. So, you do have to pretty much change them one at a time.
There is one thing I can suggest to make this easier. There's a general Mac tool called Keyboard Maestro. It is a general purpose macro utility. Using this tool, you could program all the clicks and keystrokes needed to change one transaction and jump to the next into a single keystroke. Then all you'd have to do is repeatedly type the one macro keystroke.
KM costs $36 and can have a fairly steep learning curve for more complex operations. It's very powerful. But for something like this it would be pretty easy to use. And it comes in handy for all kinds of other automation both within and outside Quicken.
(Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with KM or derive any benefit from others using it. Just a very happy long term user.)

Can we delve into what you're trying to accomplish by making such a change, to see if there might be a simpler alternative?
- Are these transactions are in an Investment account?
- Is this reinvested interest income for one security or a number of securities?
- For that volume of transactions, out of curiosity, is this going back over years of transactions?
What I'm thinking is that you might be able to enter one or a few Add Shares transactions to get your share of the holding(s) correct.

Jacobs, RickO — thank you very much! Yes, I'm on a Mac. Quicken Classic Deluxe.
The issue is for some government bonds. They throw off interest, which made me think that I wanted to list the transactions as interest. But the result is that there's cash in the Quicken account. But the bonds are just worth more. Does that make sense?
I've read that I can also just change the value of the bonds in the Securities list. Given that I can't change the transactions in bulk, maybe that's easier. But I was actually thinking about Keyboard Maestro, too. I have not used it, so there'd be a learning curve for me.
Thanks again —
Steve
