hello,

How I can specify the Lot for Sold ESPP transaction?

The Specify Lot button is grey out and unclickable.

I sold specific Lot for my ESPP stock and I'd like to use that specific Lot in the Quicken to correctly track tax gains.

Thanks

Best Regards

    Hello @mikek753b,

If you don't mind, could you please provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

    Thank you!

    @Quicken Anja

    the steps:

    1. Select brokerage account
    2. Select last empty row and click Edit
    3. Select Sold ESPP Action
    4. Launch Wizard
    5. The Lot can't be specified
    6. Done leads to the error

    thanks

Thank you for following up with additional details.

When I attempted to replicate it, the Specify Lots button was also greyed out. However, after closing and reopening Quicken, then running a One Step Update and trying again, the Specify Lots button was no longer greyed out.

Can you try closing/reopening Quicken, running a One Step Update, and let us know if you get the same result, or if the button stays greyed out for you?

Check back and let us know! Thank you.

    yes, I tried.

Its the same, the Lot is grey out and Sold ESPP can't be saved.

BTW - this is very old Quicken bug.

A similar topic where the ESOP functionality (back in the day) did similar strange things where you couldn't exercise the option and sell, it also was greyed out. For the ESOP it required me to backup the file and re-key the option grant, exercise and sales. For ESPP this might be a solution albeit not time friendly if the effort is large to re-key it all.

Eventually to resolve the ESOP issue, I created ESOPs only over a single year as I found the multi-year ESOPs would get "stuck".

Thank you for following up, though I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists.

Next, since you are still running R60.15, please navigate to Help > Check for updates to install R60.20 and see if installing the latest version will make any difference.

However, we will also be forwarding this issue to the proper channels to have this further investigated. However, we request that you please navigate to Help > Report a problem within your Quicken program and submit a problem report with log files and screenshots attached in order to contribute to the investigation.

It would also aid the investigation to include a sanitized file when submitting the problem report. A sanitized file is a data file that removes personally identifiable information so you can comfortably share this file with the Quicken team.

While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime! Thank you.

@mikek753b do you actually have 200 ESPP shares in the Schwab Trust 8437 account? Have you previously sold ESPPs from that account before?

With this flow, I also see that the "Specify Lots" button is disabled:

    • click on last empty row in register
    • click Edit
    • choose Enter transaction: Sold ESPP Shares
    • click Launch Wizard
    • in the Edit Sold/Removed ESPP Shares dialog, select the Security: <security name> ESPP
    • enter the # of Shares and the Price/Share
    • choose Lot identification
    • the Specify Lots button is disabled

However, it is enabled if I go thru this flow:

    • at the top of the register, click Enter Transactions
    • choose Enter transaction: Sold ESPP Shares
    • click Launch Wizard
    • in the Sold/Removed ESPP Shares dialog, select Which security?: <security name> ESPP
    • click Next
    • in the "record proceeds" train stop, click Next
    • enter the # of Shares and the Price/Share
    • choose Lot identification
    • the Specify Lots button is enabled

    hi all,

The new update R60.20 did NOT fix the issue.

I have over 5 years old ESPP that were bought.

Yes, I have many Lots for the ESPP and those are shown Ok for the security with ESPP suffix.

Yes, I reported the problem via Quicken.

@Quicken Anja please, pass this to your development team →

I'm sure this is ESPP Wizard workflow issue that requires the security to be pre selected before the wizard dialog is launched, as that dialog does NOT refresh upon ESPP security is selected, so it can't load anything.

Yes, I have a few different securities with ESPP, different stocks.

Thank you for submitting that! I went ahead and attached the logs to the ticket and added the additional information you requested to have passed along.

    Thank you!
